This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the game opens, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

And for that I thank you. [he gives her an exaggerated bow] I also apologize for threatening to make you explode or something.

Exploding me would have been quite messy and left you looking like some poured blue paint on you. [She grins and flips her hair over her shoulder.] And I don't think blue is really your colour.

[wow rude, blue is his favorite color and his scarf is blue (he thinks it goes nicely with his red shirt, and when he wears his blue shirt he thinks his red scarf goes well with it. what is fashion?]

[but there are more important things to talk about! his eyes light up with curiosity]

You have blue blood?

[That's okay Vriska's fashion sense is pretty terrible herself. She almost wears nothing but black, blue, and yellow.]

Yeah. It's my skin appears blueish.

[you sound like a bruise Vriska]

Is it part of your mutation? It must be, I can't think of any scientific reason for it but I also can't connect a difference in blood colour to telepathy.

[his mind is buzzing with medical facts that he picked up and studied with Gaius]

[he thinks you're so cool Vriska, even if you did just try and blow up his brain not but a few minutes ago]

[Vriska cringes.] Whoa, slow it down with the medical knowledge.

Yes, it's part of my physical mutation. It might have been more connected to my eye or something, I don't know. Maybe one of my parents was an alien? Maybe they both were. [She shrugs although she's grinning.]

Sorry. [have a sheepish smile]

[he wonders what happened to her eye but doesn't ask, he figures it's none of his business]

That would be amazing. I never met my Da so I used to imagine things like that.

[he starts thinking about the dragon figure in his room]

Never new either of my parents. [And she's leaving it at that.]

What's the deal with the dragon?

[and he doesn't even consider asking]

Oh, uh, he made it apparently and left it with my mum who kept it and gave it to me when I was little. It's the only thing of his that I have.

[he gestures a bit wildly as he speaks]

[She gives a little grunt.] Lucky you.

[It's time to try to light a damn cig again.]

[he smiles softly as he thinks about his mum but shakes the thought because he doesn't want to upset her again]

I could ignite a leaf or something and you an use that?

[instead he thinks about all the damage smoking does to your body]

[She rolls her eyes as she retrieves her lighter. It takes a few tries but she finally manages to light up and take a long drag.]

You probably get that speech a lot.

A whole hell of a lot. And my response remains the same, I don't fucking care.

Well I'm not going to try and stop you.

[she seems stubborn, it would probably be easier to stop Arthur from being a prat]

Good. [She grins as she blows out a plume of smoke.] I suppose you aren't so bad, newbie.

Thanks? You're not so bad yourself. [you act much tougher than you are, he thinks]

I heard that. [Glaring at him. And it's really the truth. She acts tough but she's really a softy.]

I know. You were supposed to.

[he's being cheeky now]

Oh, being a wise guy now. I can still change my mind and shut your brain down or something. [There's a grin that and a bit of a playful tone to her voice. Obvious it's an empty threat.]

[he grins back] You risk losing a few limbs though. [he lets his eyes flash gold]

A stalemate then. At least for the time being. [Another long drag followed shortly by a large plume of smoke.]

[he nods wisely]

One day we will have that match to the death, but today is not that day.

[he turns away from the smoke]
