This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the game opens, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

A whole hell of a lot. And my response remains the same, I don't fucking care.

Well I'm not going to try and stop you.

[she seems stubborn, it would probably be easier to stop Arthur from being a prat]

Good. [She grins as she blows out a plume of smoke.] I suppose you aren't so bad, newbie.

Thanks? You're not so bad yourself. [you act much tougher than you are, he thinks]

I heard that. [Glaring at him. And it's really the truth. She acts tough but she's really a softy.]

I know. You were supposed to.

[he's being cheeky now]

Oh, being a wise guy now. I can still change my mind and shut your brain down or something. [There's a grin that and a bit of a playful tone to her voice. Obvious it's an empty threat.]

[he grins back] You risk losing a few limbs though. [he lets his eyes flash gold]

A stalemate then. At least for the time being. [Another long drag followed shortly by a large plume of smoke.]

[he nods wisely]

One day we will have that match to the death, but today is not that day.

[he turns away from the smoke]

I look forward to that day. [She grins, taking notice of his aversion to the smoke. At first she just has the urge to be an ass about it and blow it direction at him but instead does her best to blow away from him.]

[he's proud of her consideration, then wary that the thought is going to get smoke blown at him]

I think schools usually discourage fights to the death though.

[She almost does it too, almost.]

That's why you do it off campus.

[He isn't keen on the thought of going off-campus. The odd part is it isn't the hypothetical death match that has him worried, it's how other people will react to him. He spent two years in a heavily anti-mutant place and he doesn't like even considering using his abilities off campus lest someone see his eyes change colour and realize he's a mutant. Vriska's mutation is more physical than his as well, it could cause trouble for the both of them.]

Pretty sure America outlawed death matches a few years ago.

[She rolls her eye and shakes her head.]

You worry too fucking much. And you're right, they have but that doesn't stop people.

[Maybe he worries to much but your best friend's father didn't lead the anti-mutant campaign in your city]

My worries are completely justified.

Justified or not you should just say fuck the haters. You can't help what you were born as.

[Another eyeroll as she snuffs out her cig.] At least you're able to hide it. It's just your eyes. I have to go to great lengths to cover up if I want to go out.

Can't you just go into people's minds and make them think that you look differently?

[She shrugs as she pulls out a thing of mints, popping on in her mouth before offering it Merlin.] I've never tried. It's possible but I have hard enough time doing the whole mental pushing things as is.

[he takes one and nods in thanks]

Just one more thing in the never ending list of things to practice then. It's what we're here for.

Knowing my luck I'd melt the person's brain. [She gives a little laugh and tucks the tin of mints away.]

[he just laughs back, not too sure how to respond to that, he's not sure how one actually practices mind control.]

[Very carefully at usually under the watchful eye of another teacher. Which is no fun in her book.]
