Now that she was done teasing her algebra students, Ran found herself with an inordinate amount of free time. And just as foxes are wont to do, free time often lead to mischief. It was a habit Yukari had tried to break her from, but some things just never changed. So she found herself using her 'fox fire' to create some illusions over the swimming pool... while it was in use. Doing so in such a way that, in fact, the illusion would probably look different to anyone who was viewing it.

Some habits die hard.

Although she would usually avoid the pool area like crazy, seeing Ran over by the pool brought her closer, just to see what exactly what was going on. Although see was a matter of speaking, as she didn't see the pool at all, instead just flat ground. That stopped her dead in her tracks a decent distance away from it and instead called out.

"What's going on?"

Since it was already stated that a=b, that means (a-b) = 0.
This means you can't factor out (a-b) like that; involves division by zero.

One of those very students, after using some of her own spare time for studying, found herself headed toward the pool as well. While she didn't particularly enjoy swimming herself, a few of the students that she actually got along with frequented the place a bit and this was the best time to hang with them.

Except this time, the pool was replaced by a basketball court, scaled down to match the pool's size. With some of the students still swimming in it. Many of them were seeing their own illusions, while a select few clearly saw no visible changes at all and were wondering what everyone was getting so confused and disoriented by. It looked a little more than strange, and somewhat amusing, she had to admit.

Glancing around to try to identify possible causes for this, Midori spotted Ran some distance away, eyes fixed on the pool itself and with a playful little expression on her face. The student walked right on over, as casually as she could, and addressed the teacher directly, quite possibly―but maybe not―disrupting her and the illusion in the process.

"So even the teachers need some time to go and have some fun, do they, Ran-sensei?"

Today was to be her first day at the school. The flight had been exhausting and she'd taken it all alone. Luckily she didn't have to take the trip to the school alone. She was greeted at the airport by one of the school's staff. The taxi ride had been relatively quiet, the staff member told her what she needed to know about the school and that was about it.

She was shown her room and told a tour could be given after she had rested. But Dany was too nervous and excited to rest so the moment she got the chance she slipped from her room and began to explore.

It didn't take her long to get lost. Before long she found herself in the greenhouse. At least the school had something of comfort. She smiled as she settled on a bench near a large rose bush. She smoothed her skirt and glanced around at all the plants.

A deep breath helped her calm her nerves. "Maybe this place will not be so bad," she said softly as she pulled her long silvery-blonde hair over her right shoulder and began to braid it.

Perhaps Daenerys felt it when she first entered the greenhouse. Or perhaps after a few minutes looking around, it happened. But eventually it would happen - the smell would get to her.

But it is not the general smell of many assortment of flowers in the greenhouse. It is the overpowering smell of just one. A sweet, fruity scent, which seems to emanate from one of the corners. And in that corner was a young woman, one who looks like she could be around Daenerys' age. And yet also, she could be older.

She was concentrating.

Kakyuu could find nothing like home here. So she intended to make - what else? - a tea olive plant. The plant which shared her scent, and so many other things. A plant that she grew on her own body like hair. Even as she tried to call forth the seed she placed on the floor to life, small osmanthus blossoms were gently tumbling from within her hair, her sleeves, and her dress.

[Varon takes out his pocket device and jams a few buttons before he looks at the screen. Blue eyes that seem a lot bigger than they should definitely gives him the appearance of a child but that's not the case. He clears his throat before he speaks. His heavy Australian accent is thick but not impossible to understand.]

Oy! Name's Varon. Just got off the boat not too long ago. Found myself something neat too. Anyway, heard this place is a ripper. Got any stories?

Ah, guess I should tell you fine folks mine.

[He pauses for a moment and grins.]

Nah, I'll save that for the Q and A. Late.

[He smirks and waits.]


[Prose]

A yellow Kawasaki Intruder stopped in front of the school. The plain blue helmet, rider's mask and goggles hid the face of a young man of 16 wearing a red and black rider's jacket, black study jeans with the legs tucked in boots that had straps instead of laces that matched the jacket. Hands covered in black gloves held the handle bars until he turned off the engine. He rubbed his wrist to make sure that his spacial displacement device he stole that contained his armor was still in place. Satisfied, he removed his hand.

Equipped with only a backpack and a bed roll with a collapsible fishing pole and hunting knife, this was a guy that was used to surviving in the wilderness. He straightened himself up and looked up at the school.

"Huh. So, this is the place. Nice digs but a bit too quiet. I think I'll get bored here." His voice sounded muffled behind the mask but the tone depicted near disgust. His eyes showed a lack of interest.

He pulled the keys from the ignition from the handlebars and removed himself from the bike. He activated the kill switch and alarm before he made his way up the stairs. "Hope they got a drum set and a gym or this place'll got to shit real fast." He mused to himself with disinterest.

Having been independent for a year, being away from his band and his girlfriend didn't help his spirits much. Coming from a family of racers and travelers, he lost contact with them months ago after the fires that tore him from his home, he had little options left.

Once he opened the door and took a look around, he removed his helmet, raised his goggles and lowered his mask. "Huh, I know I'll be bored." Heavy boots stepped onto the new hardwood floor that was evidently recent in replacement. Then the smirk appeared. "Or maybe not."

"Oy, anyone home?" He yelled out. Screw making calls. The voice was more effective.

There was the soft jingle of a single bell that announced Dany's presence before she came into sight. Long skirts gathered in one hand she came bouncing down the stairs, she'd been in her own thoughts so the sight of Varon made her stop at the bottom of the staircase. Her silvery-blonde hair was worn in one long braid down her back, ending with that bell that was heard before. She her long skirts made her appear smaller than she was.

For a moment she simply stared at Varon. He appeared rough and obviously new, or simply just returning, given what he carried with him. She couldn't be sure one way or the other given she'd only recently arrived herself.

"Hello. Did you need a staff member?"

Time to be quiet, sit down, and pay attention--or not pay attention, but at your own risk. Beginning Wood Shop is now in session, and like any sort of hands-on craft class that involves potentially dangerous tools and machines, the teacher is droning on about various safety precautions and warnings, allthewhile gesturing with an awl in hand.

The teacher herself is an ancient-looking old woman, hunched over to an unhealthy degree and hair resembling a snarled grey horizontal beehive. MS. CARVER is chalked in large, clean letters on the board. A raven sits perched atop a large bear carving in the corner of the room, observing the students.

Yes, it's a boring first lecture--even Ms. Carver thinks so--but a necessary one by the curriculum, and she wants to get through this as quickly as possible so everyone (herself included) can get to the fun stuff. "And that covers the manual tools. We'll go over the use of machine operations later in the course. I'll start you on your first project tomorrow; something simple, to show you the ropes. You'll have a choice between making a set of picture frames, or a pair of book-ends. Questions?"

Or perhaps you're working on one of Ms. Carver's later assignments; a relief carving, a simple wooden puppet, or a figurine based on an animal of the student's choice. Ms. Carver herself is hobbling around the room doing a variety of things: she's answer questions, checking someone's project progress, cleaning up or sorting wood scraps, or taking a few moments to work on her own project. This week, it's an intricate 4' carving of a bear scaling a tree.

The raven, which by now every student should be aware is a mutant itself and is capable of speech, is hopping around on one of the windowsills, snapping an occasional corrective (or smartass) comment about some student's technique. A broom is roaming about all on its own, sweeping up piles of dust and fallen scraps, while a brush also floats about, dusting and cleaning unused surfaces. Made obvious early on, Ms. Carver's own talents lie in animation, particularly wooden objects.

Fai has been sent here on order of the guidance counselor, who suggested it might be good for him to do something where he could clearly see the results. The problem with this isn't that he's careless by nature - or well, he is, but that's not the only reason - so much as the fact that this kind of thing requires patience... and he only has a limited supply of that. So sooner or later he won't be quite as careful with one of those carving tools as he should, thinking that it will be faster this way, the tool will slip on the wood, and since he's holding his project in his hand rather than having it properly attached somewhere...

...well. Suddenly, there is a lot of blood. And of course he raises the hand with the centimeter-deep cut in it to try to catch his teacher's attention. "Ah, Ms Carver? I have a little problem here..." To say the least.

Okay, maybe I'm not the best at this teaching thing, but honestly, kids? Expected a little more. [Shuffles a stack of papers in her hands, adjusting the glasses perched on her nose. The papers are blank, but you can't see that. And the glasses are fake; she doesn't need them. But it really completes the professorial look, right?]

Or maybe you're borderline flunking on purpose in the hopes of getting some remedial time with your bio teacher? Sorry; I know I'm hot, but I ain't got that kind of time. Might wanna shape up. [Or she might want to get more of a working atmosphere in her classes if she's going to give crazy difficult tests like this. Tomato, tomahto, right?]

She might have been snagging a little catnap somewhere. Her own office, another staff member's . . . hell maybe in her own classroom while the kids were taking a test. She might have been. But she wasn't. It just looked that way to outside observers.

What better way to observe the world than to allow it to go by as if you weren't even there? The faculty was far more likely to be able to tell that she was awake than any student.

But just try to slip something past her, kids. She might surprise you.

It was a good day to get out and stretch her legs -- all four of them. Yoruichi padded about the grounds in her feline form, recommitting every possible detail to memory. Few were going to think anything amiss with a curious little black cat, and she trotted around with impunity.

If anyone saw her, she would act the part of the proper kitty. She did enjoy a good ear-scratch or little food gifts, after all. And people trusted animals. Talked to them. It was an amazingly useful way to gather information, this form.

Katt splayed herself onto the roof with a yawn. MAN this institution was BORING. She wasn't sure which was worse. The fact that it was colder then hell outside (what being winter and all) or the fact that she'd been sidelined for "remedial education." What was wrong with not knowing your multiples?! Or basic science!? ...or reading! It's not like any of those things was really going to help you when you're out fighting a wild boar or stalking a deer...

She growled loudly from the top of the roof. Surely there had to be SOMETHING she could do here! If only she could get into the danger room, then maybe she'd be able to have some FUN around here..

Her ear twitched, and her eyes followed the movement of something darting in the snow. Was that... Standing on her feet, she was able to make out the darting outline of a bunny rushing into the brush. At last! A diversion! Without a second to lose (or looking below), she took a leap from her resting place and decided that if nothing else was going to be fun, then she'd AT LEAST have roasted hare tonight!

Thankfully, if anyone ever needs to find Armstrong they will never have too much difficulty. It's pretty much a rule set in stone, what with how tall he is and how much he likes to make himself known. Today, of course, is no exception. He's sitting down in the cafeteria, towering over the other members of the faculty as he enjoys a DELICIOUS and WELL-PREPARED steak obviously cooked by the hard-working members of the lunch staff. On the side of him is a neat pile of papers, with his grade book on the top. Obviously, he has them kept far enough away so they don't get dirty, but close enough so that he can keep an eye on them.

You may have noticed it the past few days, at regular intervals between classes, a pale green and white streak followed by a gentle gust of wind carrying the smell of fresh cut grass. Even now, it's weaving it's way through the hallways.

If you're the sort who pays extra attention to these things, you might catch a good look at the reclusive freshman. She's short, ghostly pale, carrying wooden swords and running with her arms stuffed full of books. You might also notice that something is different this time, there's an awfully freshly mopped floor ahead of her.

Bumblebee let out a sigh as he plopped down upon the couch inside of the rec room with his tablet pc in hand. Classes had ended for the day and he’d already burnt through most of his homework for them. He still had some worksheets to do, but those wouldn’t be all that difficult. Right now, he was just happy for a break from all of the work. He was still adjusting to this place and seeing all the different powers and types of mutations that were out there. He’d yet to make any friends, though. He would really need to get on that.

He wasn’t all that sure what to do on his break, but when all else failed, turn to the internet. He took out his stylus before bringing his tablet out of sleep mode.

Your education can't be all lasers and punches. Reki isn't so much your hippie art teacher as she is your hipster art teacher. She has you listen to indie bands and paint in rythm to them. She can probably snark back at you with the same intensity you bring to it and puts many a would be wiseass back in their chair, blushing and stammering. And if you truly hate art, she'll let you dick around on your phone and turn in a stick figure if you want.

How do you take this class? Thrive in the relaxed atmosphere or flail at the lack of discipline?

After school, when it's dark, she can be found on the rooftop, smoking and watching the moon. She cuts quite the mournful figure, sillhouetted by it. But if she notices you, she'll turn and grin.

I know a janitor can't exactly do as much to make your life a living hell as a teacher can, but I wouldn't underestimate me because of it. [If nothing else, he helps in the kitchen sometimes. Who knows what might happen to your food?] But, who knows? Maybe I'll be merciful if you turn yourself in now. If it keeps happening and I catch you...

Archer is, for all his sarcastic quips and general cynicism, a hard worker. Mop the floors. Put a couple of chairs back together after some power-related mishap in one of the classrooms. Oh, and the groundskeeper needs help? Okay, sure, it's not like he has anything better to do right now. And that's just before lunch.

But now it is lunchtime, and goddammit, he is going to enjoy his break. No one is going to bug him about how this-or-that suddenly came up and he needs to take care of it. None of the students are going to give him a hard time just because, as near as he can tell, they can. And no one—no one—is going to wheedle some of the lunch he has prepared for himself out of his hands (and into their mouth, presumably).

...Hahaha, yeah right. He isn't actually that optimistic, but maybe he'll be proven wrong for once. In any case, he'll at least try to enjoy his break while it lasts—outside, where it's quiet.

I figured it's about time I confessed to this.

You know how some students were going on about seeing ghosts a little over a month ago? Those weren't really ghosts, those were just me playing around with my flashlight and drawing some shapes with it. I had to keep myself busy somehow. That and it seemed appropriate given that particular holiday. And hearing about the reactions was pretty funny, I'll admit.

So, you know, in case anyone's still wondering what that was about. Yeah. My fault. Sorry? Can we just say I was practicing?

[When the feed turns on, the people watching will be greeted by a rather pale-looking young woman with an obvious fondness for black clothing. She gives a short but friendly wave and a bright smile as greeting, before returning her expression to a more relaxed state.]

Say...has anyone ever noticed that this academy is lacking in terms of extracurricular activities? I don't mean physical activities, as we have a good sum of those...rather, I'm talking about activities that don't involve so much physical effort.

I for one would love to see some clubs rise up. A drama club, a chess club, perhaps even...a poker club? Of course, we wouldn't gamble anything, it could just be for fun!

[No sound comes out of the goth's mouth for a few seconds...and then she closes her eyes and lets out a soft giggle.]

It's just a thought, though admittedly one I can't seem to get out of my head. Would anyone else bet interested in setting up some clubs to brighten up our days? Surely I'm not the only one who thinks things have gotten slightly...dull around here.

As stated in her post to the network, Celes really does not like physical activity all that much. She would much rather work her mind than work her body any day of the week. However...she doesn't mind exploring. She's only been her for a couple of days, so she hasn't really seen the entirety of the school just yet. However, she is making an effort to change all that by roaming around the school. Most likely you can find her walking down the corridors, curiously looking around.

This is indeed after the club network post she made, so you can always speak to her about that in person if you prefer it that way.

Classes have ended a few hours ago and the gambler had no homework what-so-ever. As such, she decided to go hang out at one of her favorite spots, the library! ...it beat being bored in her room, okay? Besides, they had sets of chess and checkers there and the librarian let her play cards so long as she didn't bet anything.

Casually, Celes strolled into the room at about three o'clock in the afternoon. After scanning the library for a few seconds, she takes a seat closest to the shelf with all the game sets and pulls out a deck of cards from her purse, placing it on the table. It's very obvious she's rather bored, as she performs a series of elaborate (but rather simple when you know them) card tricks with her deck. That is...until your character walks by. She'll offer them a bright smile, asking them ever so politely: "Hello there, fancy a game?"

So the nice thing about hallways? They are long and straight and narrow and great for running through! Which is precisely what Katt is doing right now because she is BORED TO DEATH. No sooner than she turns the corner, however, does she realize that this particular corridor is NOT vacant. OH SHIT.

Katt tries to footplant to a stop quickly, but with all the momentum she built up she wasn't able to manage it! Now she's hurtling toward the girl's direction with no way to control the impact!! WATCH OUT CELES!! SHE'S GOING TO--!!!
