This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

"Bah, come off it." Varon waved the thought away. "Not like it's killed me or anything. Got me some character, is what it did. Pops always told me what doesn't kill a man makes him stronger and I ain't done nothing to deserve no one's pity. Got that?"

He didn't mean to come off as harsh as he had but it did give some irritation when people gave him handouts. "I'm only here because it's expected of me." He wouldn't admit it, but he did need the education and he needed the place to stay.

Dany gave an apologetic look, shrinking back a bit. "Sorry, I meant no offense."

Varon calmed himself down. He lowered his head and his voice. "I'm sorry. I got a little hot there for a moment. Pay it no mind."

The journey did take a lot out of him and before he realized it, he was needing sleep and food. He decided sleep was more important. "Listen, Dany, it's been a long trip and I'm beat. We can talk tomorrow when I'm feeling more spry. How's that?"

A tentative smile formed on Dany's lips as she gave a nod. "Very well. I bid you a good night, Varon."

He slipped his helmet under his arm and gave a quick smile at Dany with a two fingered salute. "Night."

He walked toward the back then realized he had no idea where he was going. "Uh...mind pointing me to the dorms?"

Dany had turned and started on her way when Varon addressed her again. "It may be easier if I show you the way." She gathered turned and swept past him in the direction of the boy's dorms.

"Thanks. And...sorry I snapped at you." He would have to find some way to make it up to her, that's for sure. He waited for Dany first before he moved.

"That's a might fancy dress you got on. Is there a play or something you're rehearsing for?"

Dany glanced back with a small smile on her lips, "It is all right. I am sure I would have been the same way after my arrival here. Several hours on a plane can be just as draining as a trip by any other method."

She shook her head in response to his question, the bell once again jingling louder than it did when she was simply walking. "I um, I dress like this all the time." Not always full dresses but more often than not she wore long skirts.

"Oh. No harm then." He smiled. Varon was often jovial when the mood struck him and seeing now that he didn't have to fight to keep what was his, he was feeling somewhat better.

"I dress like this all the time too, you know. I wouldn't have the legs for a dress." He joked.

She glanced back at him again before giving a small giggle. "What of dresses that show no leg?"

Varon laughs loudly now. "I can wear a kilt. Pulled it off too." Once he realized what he just said, his hand went right to his face. "Uh...forget I said that."

Dany gave a little chuckle, she may have laughed harder if she could have seen his expression. "I am sure you like quite fetching in a kilt."

"Yeah." He partly mumbled partly chuckled. "I'm sure all the ladies would like to know what's worn under it." He snickered as he tried to hide the joke.

Dany stopped and looked back at him. It was clear from her expression she didn't get what he meant. "Pardon?"

Varon was laughing so hard now from her expression and response that he couldn't form any words while he shook his head along with a wave of his hand.

Dany felt the heat rise to her cheeks as he laughed. She scowled at him before turning back around, her skirts whirling about in the process. With a haughty snort she continued on toward the boy's dorm.

After a few breaths, he came down from his tasteless joke's mirth. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time he laughed at his own bad puns. He cleared his throat and continued on with Dany. "Geez, tough crowd. Good thing there ain't any money involved in it or I'd be broke or booed."

"I simply to not get what is so funny," she responded without looking back at him.

A few moments later they reached the doors that lead outside, the boy's dorm was right across from where they now stood. "So we arrive. You will find the dormitory right over there."

"It's a bad joke anyway. I wouldn't worry about it." He chuckled. "It's fine and thanks for showing me the dorms." If Varon was thinking properly, he wouldn't have made the pun. Being tired did funny things to his head at times.

"I suppose I will have to take your word for it." She gave a little curtsy before nodding, "You are welcome, Varon."
