This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the game opens, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

[Anyone passing through the courtyard might notice a young man, sprawled upon the ground before the entrance to the mansion. He shudders and wretches from where he lays, looking as if he were moments from losing his lunch, yet expending a great amount of effort to keep himself from doing so. Those who decide to venture closer might hear him muttering the same strained sentence between groans over and over--]
Never again... I swear I'll never get into a car ever again...

Are you alright?
no subject
Can't move... Feels like I'm going to-- [He raises a hand to his mouth, his cheek bulging out as he crumples weakly against the tilted walkway beneath him.]
no subject
Don't hold it in. It'll only make it worse.
no subject
Ohhh... I had better be in the right place. I don't think I could survive another drive like that...

[He hopes he's right. He kneels down to rub on the kid's back to ease his pain. Sometimes it works, other times not so well.]

Is this the Xavier Institute? The driver kicked me out when he noticed I got sick, so I never had the chance to ask.
no subject
Yes. I'm one of the teachers here.
[Within seconds an English bulldog sporting a blue and white rhinestone encrusted collar is sitting near Natsu.]
This is Caesar.
no subject
So, this is it, huh? I finally made it!
no subject
Yes. I am Mister Lee and I teach music here along side refining abilities. I welcome you, Mister...uh, begging your pardon, but may I have your name, please?"

[Grinning, he more than happily accepts Lee's hand, practically jumping to his feet with renewed vitality. Unable to contain himself, he starts to look about wildly, taking in a much of the place as he could. It was bigger and a lot more civilized than he imagined...]
Is this really a place for people with strange powers?
no subject
[Natsu's exuberance makes Lee smile. If only Lee could speak for everyone, he makes an outstanding first impression. What lies behind the doors is something completely different.]
That is correct. We each possess gifts, even the teachers. I am one of many that has special abilities. We take pride in our powers here.
no subject
Really!? What can you do?
no subject
I can heal rapidly and I can become invisible. It's not much, really.
[He's not going to tell that his aging stopped when he turned 27 and he's pushing 50 now.]
no subject
Huh!? What are you talking about? Being invisible and healing yourself? I bet you kick all kinds of ass with those powers.
no subject
I hadn't really thought of that. I teach music here and it happens to be one of my passions.
[He's certainly being humble about it though.]

It could be worse. The Blackbird could have been your voyage here.

[Natsu's sentence ends abruptly as his cheeks bulge, his eyes widen, and he looks moments from being sick all over the courtyard. He doesn't vomit, but with all the colorful retching sounds he was making, one might have thought otherwise.]

A plane would probably kill me...
