( the test drive meme )

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before applying, and to see if things "click". Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.

"Eh?" Rin blinked a few times before lowering his head. That was certainly a question he'd never heard before. "Uh...well, they're always blue." Could other pyros change their flame colours? He didn't know if that was possible.

[personal profile] firedragonslayer 2012-10-06 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah damn. And here I thought you were able to change their colors."

He huffs, almost disappointed at the possibility of seeing (and possibly tasting) a whole variety of fires. He pauses after that thought, taking a moment to look Rin over, as if appraising him. After a moment, he leans in, his tone and manner almost serious.

"How do blue flames taste?"

[personal profile] devilsfire 2012-10-06 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't know people could do that."

The sudden violation of space left Rin leaning away a bit. And the question, well it pretty much got the most what the fuck face he could muster. "Taste? Like?" Who the hell eats fire?!

[personal profile] firedragonslayer 2012-10-06 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yep. I've never eaten a blue flame before, so I thought you would know."

The reaction wasn't what he was expecting at all. The screwed up look, the shift in distance between them, and the change in tone all cause Natsu to blink curiously for a moment. He had always lacked a certain level of tact, but having met another fire user, however different their flames may have been, he seemed to let his excitement get the better of him.

"Haven't you ever eaten fire before?"

[personal profile] devilsfire 2012-10-06 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Rin simply continued to stare in disbelief. He couldn't imagine someone eating fire. How does that even work?

"No!"

[personal profile] firedragonslayer 2012-10-07 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
He scoffs, looking away as he shaking his head.

"Tch. You're a strange one, aren't you?"

[personal profile] devilsfire 2012-10-07 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Me? Strange? I'm not the one eating fire! You don't eat fire! It has no nothing of value in it!" Fire was only good for cooking and burning things.

[personal profile] firedragonslayer 2012-10-08 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Natsu just crosses his arms, looks at Rin, and in a rather blunt and as-a-matter-of-fact tone says--

"What the hell are you talking about? Of course I eat fire. Why else would I ask how blue flames tasted?"

[personal profile] devilsfire 2012-10-08 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Ain't normal, dude!" The only response Rin can come up with. And considering everyone in the school isn't normal, that's got to say something.

[personal profile] firedragonslayer 2012-10-08 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Normal?" He just stares at Rin, as if that was the strangest thing said this entire conversation. "I think you're in the wrong place if you're looking for normal, Blue."

[personal profile] devilsfire 2012-10-08 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Mostly because it was the strangest thing said during the entire conversation. "You know what I mean!"

[personal profile] firedragonslayer 2012-10-08 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Natsu stares at Rin for a moment longer, then begins to laugh, apparently amused by the other young man's reaction.

"This place has been pretty amazing so far."

He raises a hand toward Rin, actually taking the time to greet him properly this time.

"I hope I get the chance to meet more people like you."
