Of course. Only the foolish would have doubts about my ability. [Yes, indeed. Acting isn't... something she's quite developed a taste for (yet?), since it deviated quite heavily from smashing ruffians in the face or just simply looking pretty, but when she set her mind to something she could actually do quite well.]

Sango picked up another ball, aiming a bit more carefully this time. And that care was so close to being rewarded when her shot hit the backboard and bounced out a few inches away from the hoop. Always just on the edge of getting it.

"Nothing flashy, honestly. Enhanced strength and endurance. Bit of an accelerated healing factor."

She'd never been one to wish that her power was something more visually impressive. Her ability could get the job done. What more did she need than that?

Good, then it's settled. I'll work with it as long as a) I don't have to eat the pizza at the cast party and b) I can bring my own make-up artist. Deal?

Well she was doing better than Kenzi. Without using her TK she couldn't get the ball to actually go in the hoop. That might be partially due to the fact her vision isn't that great.

"Definitely useful." Sure she could, seemingly, increase her strength and endurance but it's wasn't something natural. "Always wished I had healing. Can't tell you how many times that would have come in handy."

He noticed this, and blinked at it, trying to decide if he was seeing things or not.

Deciding that it was probably best that he checked this out, he moved closer, putting on his nervous act. "Um, excuse me? What are you doing to that tree?"

Kagome happened to be wandering through when she spotted Sango. She'd stayed quiet through the shot, not wanting to startle her friend, but the other girl did deserve praise for the attempt.

"Hey, teach, you okay?"

Someone must have been on lunch break. The voice came from higher than was probably normal or expected, and if Ukitake cared to look up, he would find Yamame sitting cross-legged on top of a row of lockers. There was, indeed, a pile of what appear to be snack cakes from a vending machine sitting in her lap.

"You don't look so good." A statement of the obvious, perhaps, but it was delivered with a very intent stare.

Waaaaait! Don't kill it!

[Maybe that call is directed at you, or maybe you're just an observer. (The latter is just as likely, considering people three hallways down just heard her, and not even the ones with enhanced hearing.) Either way, the source of this commotion is apparently a tiny blonde girl, her cute ponytail bobbing as she dives in front of...a spider.]

[Oh. It's that weird kid that has bugs crawling around in her hair half the time. That explains everything.]


[B. Prose]
Yamame tried to swallow her disappointment with the Xavier Institute, and, for the most part, it was easy to do so. She was all smiles and optimism to anyone that came within twenty feet of her, and for the most part that behavior was genuine, but... She was disappointed nonetheless. So many people here seemed so concerned with looking like normal humans. It wasn't at all like being among the Morlocks, and she hadn't seen anyone who could pass for a youkai.

She saw no reason to alter her behavior to match, though, so she had probably already developed at reputation for being weird and even eerie. She didn't care. She was the same as always, spiders crawling in her clothes and hair as she climbed atop whatever would give her the best vantage point.

Which, in this case, happened to be a bookshelf in the library.

"Hey, what are you reading?"

She didn't really care much about rules about talking in the library, either.

Everyone's too worried about "normal" and "education". I can feed myself and find safe places to sleep. That's good enough.

[A pause.]

And partially due to the fact that Sango had been a star athlete since her childhood. Aiming from this great a distance was something new to get used to, but she had a good base to work with.

Her look softened into something more thoughtful at those words. For an advanced healing factor to be considered so handy . . . that had to be rough.

She looked up when she heard Kagome's voice. She hadn't seen her come in, but she got in a zone sometimes when she was doing sports. That probably wasn't a good thing, to get so unaware of her surroundings. Could be dangerous out in the real world.

A smile did cross her lips at the praise, though. It was always nice to hear, and Kagome always meant it. "Thanks. Just a bit more practice, and I think I'll get it."

The eyes that turn to him flash green, a sort of light that was difficult to look at and no doubt caused a small headache for the brief moment they were glowing. A mutant, obviously. And not the usual breed that lived at the school, no doubt.

"Who the hell are you?"

Oh. This girl. He wasn't going to ask if the cakes were for her or for her pets. He's learned better than to ask too many questions of her in general. Though, strange as she was, she was also sweet and obviously concerned.

You'd think with powers like hers, Parsee would have learned to detect the presence of others well enough to not be startled. But Yamame, little Yamame, had a talent for this kind of thing. With a yelp, Parsee shot a glare back at her little spider friend.

For once Kankri wasn't rambling about Social Issues, at someone. In fact he seemed pretty content just eating his breakfast and reading a paper. He's pretty much absorbed into it.

D9 y9u feel 9ffened and threatened 6y it? If y9u d9, I d9 ap9l9gize f9r bringing it up and p9ssibly triggering y9u. And y9u might want t9 st9p reading this right n9w.

This law p9ssi6ble c9uld change the entire f9undati9n of Human-Mutant relati9nship. It w9uld in 9urs and every9nes best interest t9 c9me t9 an understanding 9n the wh9's and the what's 9f it. 9n 9ne hand it "supp9sedly" will help apprehend criminals that w9uld use their mutati9ns for an injust cause. Like the Br9therh99d. And yet this c9uld easily lead t9 m9re 9utright discriminati9n, in many f9rms. Human 9nly suburbs, terminati9ns from jobs, where s9me9ne c9uld sit 9n the 6us. The effects and side-effects will m9st likely 9ut way any g99d that might c9me fr9m this law. It's ripples be felt f9r generati9ns t9 and turn int9 a fruitless struggle f9r equal rights between the tw9 parties.

She sure did. And, unfortunately for Parsee, another talent she had was not being easily discouraged.

"Come on, if you say it like that you'll just make people even more curious!" She leaned forward from her perch, craning her neck to try to peek at the pages. Her position seemed precarious, but she wouldn't be much of a gymnast if she didn't have good balance. "Is it something bad?"

"J-just a student here," stammered Takumi, his act smoothly in place. Still that flash did make him a little nervous, since he didn't know many people here. "I'm Takumi Ogami."

"Okay. Hold on a second."

She swept her lunch into her bag and then dismounted from her ledge, knees barely bending as her feet hit the ground. It was barely a second later that she was at his side.
