This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

You turn a corner or enter a common room, or maybe you are walking the grounds, when you suddenly run into a boy who seems to have decided to get dressed in the middle of a public space? Why was he naked before? You guess. Point is that he's currently only wearing pants and an undershirt and fumbling with a t-shirt, about to pull it over his head when he spots you. There's no real horror that he got caught doing something, he seems to be used to situations like this and flashes you an almost daring grin before he pulls the t-shirt down.
"You shouldn't just walk into people changing, you know?"
B. Video
[A boy sits on his bed, legs crossed, a couple of books scattered around him. There is a thoughtful expression on his face, and for a moment he pauses before his features grow more excited.]
So, I was doing readings for class [this comes out a bit bored, WHY IS THERE SO MUCH READING] and then I came across this part that mentioned organic clothing. Does that mean someone figured out how to make living clothes? I mean, if they're not anorganic, they have to be, right? Because organs are alive or they're dead, and it's not dead-organic-clothes or something. Even if that would be a dumb name, but most such words are dumb.
So where do I get that stuff, and why have I never before heard of it? You'd think those weirdos would be all over something like that, calling it unethical and shit.
B
sigh. Time for a lesson in pointless knowledge!] Organic clothing simply means that they were made in accordance to standards set by what's known as organic farming--growing plants without the use of chemicals whether they're in synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Methods usually employed in such farming includes crop rotation, usage of biological pest control, and compost.
Unfortunately, what you assumed about organic clothing is inaccurate. There would be quite the outcry about it, I'd imagine, if such a thing you described existed.

... Naaaaah.] It is a bit deceptive, admittedly, and you have a point. I'm not entirely certain why it's called what it is. Eco-friendly would still fit on the tags well enough...

[For a kid his age, he has a pretty good grasp on English, even though there is an accent, but some words are just out of his reach.]

wait!
[He puts his device down and you can hear pages turn, and after maybe two minutes he returns triumphantly.] It's ecologisch! Almost the same, just different writing. [A pause.] English is weird, but it's fun. It just pronounces things confusingly sometimes.

... It is indeed a strange language. It's much different from my own first language.

[Glossing over the fact that Ecologisch doesn't stem from his own native language, partly because he barely speaks that native language anymore. A few phrases, some child's vocabulary, but that is about it.]

[Which is not a direct answer, but it's as close as he'll get unless it really is necessary for some reason - Hungarian, it should be, then there was Polish which he still speaks rather well, but then there were Dutch and now also a bit Turkish...]

My name is Naoto. What's yours? [She's stuck here for who knows how long, she might as well try making friends!]
here we come to the part that I'm still unsure about.
[And then he laughs.] And you name sounds like a car brand!
Oh well, there's still time to decide!

A!
"L-Like, who said I walked in anywhere?! We're totally not even inside! Oh my god, aren't you like freezing?!"

"There, better?" The boy looks a little familiar somehow, but Feliks can hardly remember what he had for breakfast. The outfit turns back after a second or two, though--if anything, the skirt gets shorter, just because he can. "Like, why are you changing in a place like this if you care about people seeing?"
no subject
And you can take your hands away from your eyes, I'm not gonna flash you or anything." He rolls his eyes right back at the other boy. "I was already dressed too much for that when you showed up, even."
no subject
"Anyway, like, how can you not pick? How is that a thing?"
no subject
no subject
"No, but seriously--do you like, Hulk out and rip them all off, or what?"
no subject
"If I would, they'd be in shreds." He shrugs. "I just ...loose them. One moment I'm here but then I'm not and my clothes still are. So when I come back they are at my feet."
no subject
He smirks a little, never really one to know exactly when he should leave well enough alone. "So you like, disappear, but only for a while? I don't know, are you sure you're not just like, a nudist or something? I totally know a dude who shows up to class sometimes and you're just all, 'oh my god, Feli, where are your pants?' and it's not even a power thing, he just spaces on it all the time."
no subject
Feliks.
Of course, how could he not notice that before. Not like they were something like best friends once upon a time or anything. Zag still isn't entirely sure, but it just has to be.
"Feliks?"
Just disregard the conversation that they were having.
no subject
"...Zag? I--you're not--ohmigod, is that you?!" How long has it been? He's been in America... seven years?
no subject
He would have had to sit to put on his shoes anyway, so falling back on his butt and peering up at Feliks from there sounds like a reasonable alternative. Even though it is a bit cold.
There will be a crushing hug in a minute, but for now, this just all is a bit too sudden. It will have to sink in.
