This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

He laughs, walking Zag back towards the building, to find someplace to sit down and catch up. Easily, fluidly, he switches into Polish.

"I got so much better at doing that myself," he confided. "Tons of practice, you know? Like, oh, my god, normal school was just the worst. Here? You're not gonna have too much to worry about. At least, not from the other students.

"Oh god, so like, a couple months ago? You won't believe it, this stupid bitch called me Russian. So I totally decked him, like, BAM! It was awesome!"

"Sounds well deserved." Zag doesn't share the the same hatred for his nationality being mistaken for Russian, he's simply not definite enough about it himself (with a bit of luck, it'll be Dutch when he turns 18), but he can totally see where Feliks was coming from. "Too bad that you didn't get a picture. But you have to show me one of these days what you can do - what is your mutation, anyway? I mean it's probably really pretty and girly to suit you, but that's not really telling me much." They have so much to catch up on and he really has no idea where to get started, but basics first is always a good approach.

"It's kinda a little complicated to explain, but it's so badass, you're gonna be totally floored!" Feliks has a little trouble resisting the urge to brag among friends, all right?

He reaches into his handbag, and pulls out compact mirror. "Basically? I can imagine things into being different. Like, okay, here's my mirror, right? But maybe I wanna play frisbee, so like, I think it's a frisbee..." And it is, there in his hand. He tosses it and it flies like one, landing gently in the grass. "It's like, a little harder to make stuff real if I'm not touching it, and I can't change people or animals, but it's still super hardcore, right?"

"So you couldn't make it grow you a beard?" He'll wander over to the frisbee and poke it with a stick, in a manner that indicates that he feels that it might explode on him. ...He's prodding it very enthiusiastically, though. "Or turn a pony pink, knowing you." Ponies is one of the things about Feliks that he remembers very vividly. If he had to associate him with one thing only, it would probably be that.

"Nah, I like, can't really change any animals? I can like, imagine stuff into animals, though, a little." He could make his toys act real, or... well, he'd show him. The mirror shrank back down, then... it was round, right? So it ended up turning into a tiny turtle. He wasn't sure how real it would be at this distance from him, though--it might be mostly illusion.

At the sudden change, Zag almost jumps but pulls himself together at the last minute, and a moment later he is leaning forward to prod the turtle.

"That's really cool! How long does it last?" And Feliks is one of the very, very few people that Zag would call cool to their face.
