globaltaunt: Captain Teemo on Duty! (&hearts)

Teemo | League of Legends (Teacher of Biology and Horticulture)

[personal profile] globaltaunt 2013-04-05 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
((OOC: History and Personality so far))

[Network]
[The message opens to an extreme close up of Teemo's tremendously excited fox-like face.]

Goooood morning, Scouts!

I hope those of you in my Biology classes are tired of video lessons, because the hands on part of class begins today. For those of you who don't know, which is likely most all of you, I am Captain Portillo, but I'd prefer you just call me Teemo. I am just returned from an impromptu vacation. So, if you've been trying to reach me about your grades, I'm sorry about that. To make up for it, how about some easy extra credit? I'll give you a question and you give me an answer. Simple as that.

[Action]
[Early in the morning, Teemo can be found fishing for breakfast by the lake. Every so often, he sits still long enough that his mutation makes him fade from view, but he seems to pop back into existence whenever he takes a sip of potent coffee from the enormous thermos sitting next to him.

Later in the day, with his short stature and stuffed backpack, Teemo looks an awful lot like an elementary age student. The way he wanders around aimlessly, silently reading off signs to himself doesn't help much either. Then again, anyone who's known him for more than an hour knows this is probably completely intentional. Anyone who starts to look too concerned is going to get their sleeve tugged on and asked for help in the cutest voice possible.]

A

( Dave touches down near the lake, he gives his wings a shake before pulling them around himself. The day had started out warm enough but now that the sun was going down it was starting to get a bit chilly but his wings work well enough to keep him warm.

He settles down near the shore and glances around before dumping his haul of shiny finds out. He tries not to collect too much shiny junk but sometimes he just can't help it.
)

B

( Dave's wandering through the halls; headphones blaring in his ears as he bobs his head and makes various beatbox sounds to go along with whatever he's listening to. He's far more focused on his music than his surroundings so it's no surprise when he runs headlong into someone. He stumbles a bit, wings and tail flaring behind him as he pulls his earbuds from his ears.

Behind his dark glasses his eyes are wide with surprise as if he hadn't expected to run into anyone at all.
)

Whoa. Sorry 'bout that.

Can you give us a practical task instead of a question, too?

[Pop quizzes and such suck, but practical tasks in biology can be fun. Sometimes you even get to go outside for them, or you can do things with potentially acidic or explosive substances... or take apart dead bodies... Or work with technical stuff...]

[personal profile] boywhorunsthroughtime 2013-04-07 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You really just stole a lot of cheap junk there, didn't you?

[There's a boy with medium lenght brown hair standing a few feet above Dave, looking down at his findings with a grin on his face that implies that, no matter if he really thinks that Dave stole the things or if he approves of that or not, it really amuses just how much worthless shiny junk there is among the items. And also that he is going to try and tease the stranger about that merilessly.]

Reki, who'd been up fitfully working on her, well, you could call it a masterpiece, staggered off into the anemic upper NY morning sun and immediately thought lack of sleep was making her hallucinate. There was a small, cute, anthropomorphic animal, sitting on its plump little butt, fishing and drinking from a thermos.

Also it seemed to be flickering in and out of view.

She squinted at the hallucination, wondered if she should make another attempt at napping.

A. Action
You turn a corner or enter a common room, or maybe you are walking the grounds, when you suddenly run into a boy who seems to have decided to get dressed in the middle of a public space? Why was he naked before? You guess. Point is that he's currently only wearing pants and an undershirt and fumbling with a t-shirt, about to pull it over his head when he spots you. There's no real horror that he got caught doing something, he seems to be used to situations like this and flashes you an almost daring grin before he pulls the t-shirt down.

"You shouldn't just walk into people changing, you know?"

B. Video
[A boy sits on his bed, legs crossed, a couple of books scattered around him. There is a thoughtful expression on his face, and for a moment he pauses before his features grow more excited.]

So, I was doing readings for class [this comes out a bit bored, WHY IS THERE SO MUCH READING] and then I came across this part that mentioned organic clothing. Does that mean someone figured out how to make living clothes? I mean, if they're not anorganic, they have to be, right? Because organs are alive or they're dead, and it's not dead-organic-clothes or something. Even if that would be a dumb name, but most such words are dumb.

So where do I get that stuff, and why have I never before heard of it? You'd think those weirdos would be all over something like that, calling it unethical and shit.

[personal profile] globaltaunt 2013-04-07 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be even better! Of course, more work nets you more points.

[Teemo is the sort of teacher who ruins bell-curves. He doesn't want to be in the classroom just as much as some of his students. Thinking you might get to go outdoors isn't just hitting he nail on the head; it's driving it clean through the board.]

Throughout the year, we'll be running an ongoing ecological survey of local flora and fauna. There will be plenty of chances to collect seed and spore samples, install wildlife cameras and census creekbeds. (See: hunt for mushrooms, climb trees and look at bugs... scientifically of course!!)

[personal profile] boywhorunsthroughtime 2013-04-07 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Do we get to take things apart, too? I want to dissect a fish, that always sounded fun but they stopped doing it because people would just throw them away afterwards at my old school.

[What even...

sigh. Time for a lesson in pointless knowledge!]
Organic clothing simply means that they were made in accordance to standards set by what's known as organic farming--growing plants without the use of chemicals whether they're in synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Methods usually employed in such farming includes crop rotation, usage of biological pest control, and compost.

Unfortunately, what you assumed about organic clothing is inaccurate. There would be quite the outcry about it, I'd imagine, if such a thing you described existed.

[personal profile] boywhorunsthroughtime 2013-04-07 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be pretty cool though. Imagine getting a type of clothing that eats people for those idiots that do the Senteniel program. [The boy grins widely and then tilts his head] But it's pretty dumb to call that organic. It sounds like they're implying that conventionally grown stuff is anorganic. And that's not the case.

[personal profile] buzzkilldetective 2013-04-07 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Was that a twitch of amusement at the first part?

... Naaaaah.]
It is a bit deceptive, admittedly, and you have a point. I'm not entirely certain why it's called what it is. Eco-friendly would still fit on the tags well enough...

[personal profile] boywhorunsthroughtime 2013-04-07 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ihko?

[For a kid his age, he has a pretty good grasp on English, even though there is an accent, but some words are just out of his reach.]
buzzkilldetective: (Sam Spade)

[personal profile] buzzkilldetective 2013-04-07 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a shorthand term for "ecologically friendly".

[personal profile] boywhorunsthroughtime 2013-04-07 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh...

wait!

[He puts his device down and you can hear pages turn, and after maybe two minutes he returns triumphantly.] It's ecologisch! Almost the same, just different writing. [A pause.] English is weird, but it's fun. It just pronounces things confusingly sometimes.
buzzkilldetective: (Philip Marlowe)

[personal profile] buzzkilldetective 2013-04-07 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ecologisch"?

... It is indeed a strange language. It's much different from my own first language.

[personal profile] boywhorunsthroughtime 2013-04-07 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
What's yours?

[Glossing over the fact that Ecologisch doesn't stem from his own native language, partly because he barely speaks that native language anymore. A few phrases, some child's vocabulary, but that is about it.]
buzzkilldetective: (Nero Wolfe)

[personal profile] buzzkilldetective 2013-04-07 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Japanese. Yours?

[personal profile] boywhorunsthroughtime 2013-04-07 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm from the Netherlands!

[Which is not a direct answer, but it's as close as he'll get unless it really is necessary for some reason - Hungarian, it should be, then there was Polish which he still speaks rather well, but then there were Dutch and now also a bit Turkish...]
niepokonany: (about this being a bad idea)

A!

[personal profile] niepokonany 2013-04-07 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Feliks gasps, covering his eyes with his hand; beneath his fingers, a bright red blush spreads across his skin.

"L-Like, who said I walked in anywhere?! We're totally not even inside! Oh my god, aren't you like freezing?!"
buzzkilldetective: (C. Auguste Dupin)

[personal profile] buzzkilldetective 2013-04-07 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I see... [Not much indication as far as language goes, but it's not a truly important matter...]

My name is Naoto. What's yours? [She's stuck here for who knows how long, she might as well try making friends!]

here we come to the part that I'm still unsure about.

[personal profile] boywhorunsthroughtime 2013-04-07 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
You can call me Zag! That's not my real name, but nobody here can even pronounce my real name so Zag works. ...Or Gary. If Zag doesn't work-

[And then he laughs.] And you name sounds like a car brand!
buzzkilldetective: (Philip Marlowe)

Oh well, there's still time to decide!

[personal profile] buzzkilldetective 2013-04-07 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Zag. [A slight tip of the hat.]

... it does?

[personal profile] boywhorunsthroughtime 2013-04-07 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"I said that you did, because I was here first! And it's not even that cold, you're just not properly dressed. Maybe if you wore a shirt that actually covers your belly, you'd not be freezing." He's looking the other person up and down, clearly distracted - otherwise there would have been a stronger retort. Somehow... This person just looks fmailiar, even though he cannot properly place him. (Her?)

[personal profile] boywhorunsthroughtime 2013-04-07 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, like "And here comes the new Naoto, you can get this model in five colours and with lots of extra features". It sounds like Honda, only longer.

And it's great to meet you, too! [The tip to the head is answered with a playful military salute, though the boy isn't standing straight for it at all.]
niepokonany: (Giiiiirl I will cut him)

[personal profile] niepokonany 2013-04-07 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
He uncovers his eyes just so that he can roll them, transforming his outfit briefly into a turtleneck sweater and a skirt that'd be a little modest even for church.

"There, better?" The boy looks a little familiar somehow, but Feliks can hardly remember what he had for breakfast. The outfit turns back after a second or two, though--if anything, the skirt gets shorter, just because he can. "Like, why are you changing in a place like this if you care about people seeing?"
