This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

Not a single word Katt said sounded familiar to Celes, but knowing who she was dealing with, it was obvious that nothing good was being spewed from the catgirl's mouth. So in retaliation, Celes shouts at the top of her lungs yet another series of crude insults in her native tongue. One such insult involving a wish that this "fuzzy little shit head drowns in her own litter box" and that "her tail gets caught in a wood-chipper and she screams like the whore she is."

Classy.

Katt isn't listening to her before getting ready to retaliate with a next volley of insults. And while she might be ready, the chandelier that is holding her upside down isn't. The wires give and the catgirl is unceremoniously dumped onto the floor with a loud crash.

Well...that happened.

While no words come from the gambler's mouth, it's obvious that she's a bit surprised...and a good deal amused at the poor catgirl's misfortune. Still, she isn't a complete bitch, and after a few seconds pass Celes walks over to what's left of the ceiling fixture and bends her body a bit to look at Katt.

"That's quite a fall you took...would you like me to call the nurse?"

Her whole body is telling her "yes," but that would mean asking help from her. As ignoble as being laid out on the ground and how much trouble picking herself was being, she would rather stay there crumpled than to admit defeat.

"Nooooooo..." She whimpered. She had hoped that she would be defiant and stalwart in her denial of aid, but the end results was just pathetic. Even Katt was embarassed.

Okay, fine, I get it. You don't like math.

You've been making this so difficult for me that I'm not even sure why I was asked to try to help you out in the first place.

Oh well, I guess that can't be helped. Got anything else you'd rather work on instead? [She's assuming that there's at least one subject here that Katt actually enjoys. If not...eh, she'll figure something out. Maybe.]

With a shrug and a shake of her head, it's obvious that Celes is just as embarrassed as her, if not more so. Because seriously, was this the same girl that she was arguing with? Talk about a massive waste of time...

Celes smiles at the other girl, knowing damn well she's won this little toe-to-toe, regardless of what Katt thinks. "I'll take that as a yes. Don't go anywhere, I'll be right back..." ha, as if she had a choice in the matter.

Once she finishes talking, the goth gives her "rival" a short wave and walks down the hallway once more, causally looking for the nurse's office.

[Midori certainly high expectations of Katt's reading ability. Unfortunately...

Katt stares at this for a while. Then she gets bored, walks off, chases a bunny, makes her way to the lunch hall and discusses a meal arrangement, tears through the halls and has an adventure with Celes, gets injured, and is lays out on a bed before remembering that Midori replied to her.]

A mutant with a healing factor would be able to recover from an unceremonious crash into a petulant Japanese teen and shrug off a crash from ten feet up. Unfortunatel, Katt did not have a healing factor and was instead left down on the ground a crumpled mess. She wanted so much not to be there when the little BITCH (she would begrudgingly have to thank her for that word later) got back. It took every ounce of her will to begin clawing her way down the corridor. Though considering the speed she was moving, she'd have been able to get to her room by tomorrow night.

She was okay with that if it meant she would have to see the smug look on the brat's face.

[Midori stares at her screen for a few minutes, actually somewhat dumbfounded that it took Katt this long to respond.]

What part of it? [It's already clear that spelling needs some work, but Katt specifically stated reading, and Midori doesn't feel like going out of her way on things that aren't being brought up.]

[Oh good, a nice, short sentence. She was happier with short sentences. It made things much more easier to understand.]

[She just. Stares at that screen some more. Forget simply being dumbfounded, Katt just took a cinderblock to Midori's brain and mashed it into a fine paste. The spelling should have been her first clue, really, but a high-school freshman needing help with reading?]

Really? [Where would she even start? Actually, she should try asking to figure out where to start.] Is there any part that you find harder than the rest?

[Though she doesn't know why she's asking in the first place. After all her time at the convent, none of the sisters were ever able to get through to Katt other than Sister Margerie...]

"Most people just find it annoying when I'm after them like this. Even Chen, sometimes." She'll take the sweet compliment, though, with a small blush, just barely noticeable. "It's awfully cold tonight..."

"Precisely. This sort of thing actually comes a bit easier for you, given you manipulate the light directly. I have to shape it, bend it, with heat. It's very difficult to create a proper illusion, especially one that will look different depending on the angle it is viewed from. That's the sort of thing I have to keep practicing, even at a position like my own."

[...What? Well, that came pretty much out of nowhere, and is a heavy blow to said patience.]

If I thought you were I would have said so already. Do you want to do this or not?

[She's already rather tempted to just stop and go about her own business like she had originally planned, what with having to study for an upcoming exam for her algebra class and all. Whether she does bail or not hinges on how Katt responds.]
