This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

That's funny. That scampering critter should have been inside that bush that the girl had been investigating and yet it is nowhere to be found.

Oh! But there it went, around that tree. It crossed that opening without so much as a hop in between, and it seems a little frightened. How could that be?

One wonders~.

"One" must not include Katt, because she's fairly certain the tiger-woman that is chasing the poor critter is the reason why it is frightened.

After all, Katt would be too if she knew she was after herself!!

Then what about when the bunny ends up behind the tiger with no indication of having circled around her?

Or when it hops into one opening of a downed, hollowed-out log, only to exit the end of an entirely different tree?

Surely something is amiss, here.

Her nose and instincts are kicking in too. With each time the bunny appears where it's not supposed to... sort of like an intangible wrongness that only animals (and Katt) can sense. She doesn't know what is going on, but it's bothering her... and until she can make sense out if it she's going to use her nose, ears and eyes to figure out just what is going on.

Shadows moving where they shouldn't will be the most obvious clue. They make no sound, and have no obvious sources. The scent will confirm it is indeed the same rabbit which was, honestly, starting to get as confused as Katt would be. After all even it can tell that its destination is not where it was headed.

There's something else in the air, though. Perfume. It's sweet, not overly strong, but still obvious against the forest's backdrop. Coming from... thataway, if the tiger-lady is curious. Some of it's coming from the area of those shadows, too. Coincidence? Hardly.

With her destination established, Katt decides to investigate the source of the sweet perfume. Her experience told her that it was a woman's. And if the disruption of bunny and the shadows were any indication she was the one behind it. Even though the how or the why wasn't understood, that knowledge alone was enough for Katt's temper to begin to rise. If this was somebody's fault, she was going to be SURE to cast blame and aspersions on anybody that she finds.

It was simple logic, but it usually proved successful.

Relief will come to the bunny, who is free to frolic without any further interference. Perhaps Katt's new target won't be so relieved, but if the woman with the long blonde hair is at all bothered by being discovered, she doesn't show it. No, Yukari is as elegant and poised as always. Standing there on top of a recently felled stump, in her fancy dress and clean heels, without any sign in the grass around her that she actually set foot on the ground at any point, the lady just stood there looking out from under the protective canopy of her parasol.

"Lovely day for a walk," she says without a hint of irony. It really was a good day for getting some fresh air.

Just as the events with the bunny started to give a rise to Katt's instincts, so to was meeting this woman in the flesh. Katt heard her. Smelled her. Saw her. And yet something warned her that this was something that she wanted and that she could undo these things at a moment's notice. Almost ephemerally, like a ghost. A part of her mind warned the catgirl that to pick a fight with this one was suicidal. And an even louder part said to do it, since she was going out of her way to mess with her hunt.

How? Katt hadn't the faintest idea.

"I knew it was you." Katt accused, pointing a clawed finger at the woman sitting on the stump. A blind accusation, perhaps, but one full of certainty.

If there was one thing Yukari was good at, it was pretending to be far more intimidating than her powers suggested. As it stands, she is probably one of the weaker mutants if she were to be thrown into a fight... which is precisely why she avoids them.

...but she never could leave well enough alone sometimes.

"Me?" The woman looked appalled at the accusation, hand to her chest and everything! "Whatever do you mean, child?"

"Don't play dumb. You know how." Katt folded her arms, trying to bully it out of her. If only because... no, yeah... it still didn't make sense how she did it.

She is unimpressed by the tiger's body language... though she is cute-looking, and that's likely why Yukari went through all this trouble in the first place. Chasing after her any other way would have been undignified. "So many accusations...

"Can you provide proof?" She said with amusement tugging at her features. The girl probably can't, which is what made this fun.

She thought about this for a second. Did she have proof? Not really, aside from a few circumstantial things there was no indication that this person should have been the one that was interfering. Yet...

"Your smell is everywhere. Even in places where you ain't suppose to. An' you're standin' where you are, even when there are no tracks in the snow." Again, a long shot, but it was as good a guess as any.

"It seems I did put on a little too much perfume today." Yukari idly twisted the handle of the parasol this way and that as she listened. She even made a show of looking around her at the ground to the sides to acknowledge some of that evidence.

"Did you consider the possibility that I was here before the snow arrived?" Another twist of the parasol, as if suggesting that the cover is why there is no snow on her, which could disprove that alternate theory.

"No." Katt said bluntly. She wish she had more time to become familiar with snow. She couldn't refute anything this girl had to say about it.

btw since Katt's in now, would you like this to be game canon?

Yukari tapped a finger to her chin, satisfied with that answer. "This leaves a glaring hole in your accusation."

Katt raised the clawed finger pointedly. Something in her gut told her that this woman the one responsible, and nothing silly like LOGIC was going to persuade her otherwise.

"I still know you did it!" She exclaimed. "You're just tryin' to confuse me!"

The woman doesn't budge an inch, figuratively or literally. "Guilt cannot be implied on faith alone.

"Tell me, what were you doing out here in the first place?" Like she didn't know.

Katt crossed her arms and glowered. She was right that she couldn't prove it just on her suspicion, but a part of her knew. Or was (un)reasonably sure, at least. So, if this woman was going to be difficult, then so could see.

"Why should I tell you? Why do you care??"

"Call it 'curiosity'," the woman said with that same coy smile. "You might know a thing or two about that."

"I suppose. The nuns would sometimes say it about me when I got into trouble." Katt replied honestly, a smirk forming on her face. "But the one I liked the most is one the villagers would say about me 'Someone who rides a tiger is afraid to get off.'"

...oh, now there is a smile she will hide behind a fan. It's unfair to dangle low-hanging fruit like that in front of Yukari. "What an enticing idiom."

That was bad and Yukari should feel bad but, of course, she doesn't.
