This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the game opens, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

[Jaime jerks a little at the sudden person, though to his credit he doesn't yelp or anything]

[She takes one more drag of her cigarette before dropping it and stomping it out. After which she crosses her arms and leans against the pillar as she eyes him with her good eye.]

You don't have to explain. [She grins, showing a fang as she taps the side of her head. Although the grin fades fairly quickly.]

((I'm going to assume that whatever you're going with for the Reach armour is going to make it hard for Vriska to actually get in his head.))

Should you really be doing that at a school?

[Jaime Reyes folks. Meets a girl with fangs, worries about smoking on school grounds.]

Really? I mean, I guess this place probably has a lot of weird stuff going on and-

[He stops with a wince, grabbing his head]

Please stop trying to read my mind. It's rude, and it gets my roommate all agitated and trigger happy.

((Jaime's power was tech absorbing, but he overloaded it on his first time out in the middle of an Avengers/Doom battle and got a bunch of top secret tech welded together into armor he can summon with a homicidal AI. He can't absorb new tech, but he does have the armor))

[She scowls, boy he's a real buzzkill.] Doing what?

[Make that a fanged girl with blue-grey skin and pointed ears.

Her smirk returns.] Oh, ho! Trigger happy? That sounds like a delight!

[He tried for the Blue Buzzkill actually, but would you believe it was taken?] Smoking. Second hand smoke can stunt kids lung development. I saw it on the Discovery Channel, so you know it's true.

[Hey, he was raised not to judge on appearances] Delight is not an adjective I would use. Scary and avoidable are better ones.

[She rolls her eye before giving a snort.] And your point? Maybe I have a healing factor so it doesn't fucking matter? [She doesn't but man does she wish she did.

He'd be one of the few she's ever met that was raised that way.] Maybe I take delight in seeing blood and guts and massive amounts of destruction?

What about all the students? [Even he sounds like he realizes that's a stupid question, but he has to ask it]

[Makes a face that shows he's trying hard not to be weirded out] Then I'll have to suggest you might want to have a meeting with the school counselor or rent some gory horror movies to get it out of your system. Only after I get to a safe distance though.

What about them? [She shoves her hands in her pocket as she pushes away from the pillar.]

Wow, you are like, super boring. [He's making trolling no fun.]

I-[Sigh] I'm wasting my time, aren't I? [He pauses, as if listening to someone] Just as a heads up though, you've got a 70% risk of lung cancer in the next twenty years.

[He adopts the look of a teenage boy whose pride has been offended.] Hey, I'll have you know in the last six months alone I fought a giant naked storm giant, and I have top scores on X-Box live. I'm plenty interesting!

Hey, guess what? I don't give a fuck. I probably won't live that long anyway.

[She stares at him for a moment in silence before shaking her head.] That doesn't change the fact that I think you're a bore.

That's not really a productive way to think about the future. [It's hard to tell if he's being serious, though he does seem legitimately concerned]

[He deflates] Clearly we're working with very different standards here.

Oh? Because I think it is. It means I live my life fully.

[She rolls her eye.] For the record, I was trying to troll you before and you were deflecting everything. Thus, boring.

Sometimes that's just a way of, [Stops himself] er, sorry, probably none of my business.

Ah, yeah, I get that a lot from my friends. I could go back and pretend to be freaked out if you'd like, but I think moving cross country to go to a school for people with super powers has me running empty on shock.

[She raises a brow.] No you started talking so lets here it. [She really hates not being able to read his mind.

She shakes her head.] Forget it. Too late now.

I was just going to say, a lot of times people seem to use that argument so they don't have to take care of themselves. Usually because they don't feel like there's anything to live a long time for. [He's seen it, in the criminals he fought in El Paso, and the kids who lived on the edge of his school forgotten and lonely. He always tried to reach out to them, but sometimes that's not enough.] But like I said, none of my business.

[A shrug] I'll try and remember for next time then. [Offers a hand] Jaime Reyes.

You're right, it is none of your business. [She turns away and moves to lean against the pillar again.]

Vriska Serket.

No one ever just listens when I say that. [He sighs, running his fingers through his hair. He's not even shocked to be left hanging, but at least she doesn't say her name is Goto Hell]

It's, well, it's been interesting to meet you. I am sorry about butting in.

[She gives a lazy shrug.] Yeah, whatever. Have fun crazy. [Only the last word is said in Bengali.]
