This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before applying, and to see if things "click". Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.
Tenshi Hinanai, Touhou. Your geography teacher <3
Alright, students. It has come to my attention that you think my geography classes are a bit difficult, what with the frequent danger room trips to volcanos or underground labyrinths.
[The woman, with her blue hair, the stupid hat that she kept even in class, and the even worse dress, smirked, looking pleased.]
So let's make it easier. For today at least, while I fill out the paperwork.
"Those journeying to heaven do not look back; they ascend the heaven, the
two worlds."
Explain how this relates to geography and exploration, and how eastern philosophy in general ties into it.
[Not that Tenshi had any idea of the answer. She just needed time to work on paperwork, and during classes seemed a perfect time for that.]
-------------------------
[Prose, Log format, not a network post]
The situation was pretty bad. The mad scientist (what with his german accent and tendency to throw up his right arm) had been defeated. Unfortunately, he had been defeated by Tenshi, who had defeated him... by throwing a whole lot of rocks at him.
Which had damaged his equipment. The effect was that some of it had gone haywire, creating a weird "Door" in empty space.
Moments later, things poured out of it. Vile things, with claws, fangs, wild, reptilian eyes...
...and feathers?
Tenshi peered over a table that had been knocked over. Indeed, a whole pack of Velociraptors had gone wild in the laboratory.
"I...guess we should contain those. Well, at least I defeated the scientist guy! One should not discount the good in the bad, lest one wants to avoid heaven forevermore."
[Prose]
"You need to work on control," Reisen sighed, at the same time her eyes lighted up briefly to knock away one of the raptors with an optic blast.
Re: [Prose]
While its friends seemed busy either moving closer to the makeshift cover that Reisen and Tenshi were at...or leaving the room...
[Prose]
The raptors leaving the room... that would be a problem if they managed to escape into the city and had to be neutralized right away. Her eyes lit up again, but not an optic blast this time.
"Cover me," Reisen ordered.
She focused on the raptors trying to escape, trying to tweak their wavelengths into a state of lethargy.
... she rarely tweaked them the other way. That would most likely give messy results.
Re: [Prose]
She did the cover-job by a)knocking a rock at a jumping Velociraptor, which sent it flying backwards (with a rather surprised expression on its reptilian face) and then b)getting ready for further attacks.
"Whatever weird and embarassing thing you're planning on doing with your eyes, you better hurry!"
Meanwhile, the velociraptor that had just been hit finally got back up, and started to for the table again...
[Prose]
Somehow, despite her banter with Tenshi, it wasn't disrupting her work on the raptors trying to leave. It's not like she hasn't worked with Tenshi on a number of missions before. Thus, one by one, the dinosaurs slowly dropped into a lazy stupor onto the ground.
"Why would you even think I'm trying to do anything embarrassing?" Reisen added with a sigh.
Re: [Prose]
Tenshi said while aiming a rock, throwing a jumping raptor back. It sailed through the air, into the portal, and was gone.
Tenshi, of course, mostly bantered because she could, it was not distracting her too much.It was a pretty exciting situation, actually: She had never seen these odd lizards with their huge talons before.
[Prose]
As long as Tenshi was still keeping the raptors off of them, Reisen was slowly dropping more of them into lethargic stupors.
Re: [Prose]
Yeah, humility was not one of her strongest suit.
"And look, it's fine, we contained this stuff. I just hope nothing else comes through the weird portal thing. How DO you close something like this, anyway?"
Well, she was pretty much running with things right now. She liked planning things sometimes, but going with the flow suited her far more than that.
[Prose]
Reisen just stared at the portal.
"We should have brought in a techno-path with us," she finally said.
This kind of thing was certainly outside her field of expertise.
Re: [Prose]
Tenshi pondered, then pondered some more. "Maybe we could just fill the entire room with BIG rocks? Some could fall through and it wouldn't matter."
Something shrieked in the distance, probably from behind the portal. It sounded rather loud.
"...Or maybe we should just mess with the devices some more."

"Clutch!" Suddenly, the arms pulled back, and a large CRACK was heard. The Raptors went limp as their necks and backs were broken. The hands then disappeared in a plume of flower petals. Nico Robin rose from the lab table she was kneeling behind, her arms in a cross shape. She glanced over at Tenshi nearby.
"It all depends on how much bad is with that good Peach-san.
Re: Prose
"And it's plenty good and little bad, obviously. I did it, after all."
Prose
Indeed, there were a few left, but they looked pretty shocked at the sight of hands bursting out of their comrades.
"Indeed, you cause a lot of good."
Re: Prose
It was only natural that Tenshi had already begun to engage them.
As for the second, the stupid history teacher wasn't supposed to agree to that! Sheesh. Oh, it was obviously true, but...

Re: Prose
Tenshi seemed to be a bit perplexed, that wasn't really how a battle usually went. "Don't you care for the fight here one bit? It's giant feathered lizards, why wouldn't you...?"
Re: Prose
Re: Prose
She raused her hands, making the rocks she had used earlier float up.
Then, she clapped them together, causing the rocks to scatter through the room like billiard balls.
"That should take care of the remaining velociraptors."
And the equipment. And possible teammembers!
Re: Prose
"Indeed. Good job as always Peach-san. However, I believe we wanted to keep the equipment intact."
Re: Prose
Re: Prose
Prose lolol
"On it!"
Not that Donatello had a problem with attacking the dinosaurs. He just generally preferred studying them over beating them up. Still, he unsheathed his bo and began leaping around the creatures, ready to fight.
^_^
She was actually plenty sure, and wasn't too worried, but shh.
Those feather-lizard-things sure seemed to like going for the green guy, come to think of it. Probably looked more like proper prey than Tenshi did. Just as well. One only ignored Tenshi at their peril! (or so Tenshi thought, anyway, her ego being rather large and all)
What she did was raising one of her rocks again...then ricochetting it through the room like a billiard ball, smashing equipment, chairs, and possibly also velociraptors.
Re: ^_^
ignore Tenshi's quip for the momentwonder if there was something more to it. Some dinosaur species were believed to have a keen sense of smell, and what if they were not so much smelling him, but what his blood carried.Still, he managed to leap up onto one of them, quickly hanging onto the top of its head. Instantly the group of dinosaurs that had been attracted to Donatello now had to get him off of their fellows' head. And if it meant attacking said fellow velociraptor and forcing a snarling group brawl?
Well, that was exactly what Donatello was going for. Though the rock suddenly smacking him in the beak earned Tenshi a glare.
Friendly fire is on. Also have a nice day n.n *goes to work* Sorry for timezone
Well, he WAS glaring at her, causing her to give him a friendly, downright angelic smile, kneel down, and touch the floor.
Moments later, she pickd something up that grew out of the floor while she was picking it up - it looked like a rather crude two handed sword. Just made out of concrete.
And with this, she leaped right into the frey, as if she was some sort of Berserker.
She did make sure not to hit Donatello with this, though.
Its ok, its 3 am here :D
Don wasn't too terribly impressed at how she summoned the sword - not because he was a snob, he was just a bit busy leaping out of the way of giant snarling teeth. But if he were paying attention, he would actually be impressed.
And he would appreciate that he's not going to be cleaved in half with the concrete sword, too.
