This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before applying, and to see if things "click". Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.

[Robin looked around the room, and spotted Donatello's face. A Hand appeared on her desk, and opened up her planner. And eye then appears on her palm as she looks of the class roster. She she see's his name, the hand vanishes.]

Ah, I apologize. I didn't realize we had a new student.

The Brotherhood of mutants is a group of mutants run by Magneto. Their goal is the opposite of our good headmasters. They want to take over the world and annihilate all regular humans. In NYC the other day an attack happened that was planned by them.

I bring this up because groups and events like them have existed throughout history. Can you name a couple Donatello?

Ah...

[Brotherhood of Mutants is run by "Magneto". They want to take over the world and annihilate humans. Write to his family and warn them about this group of people. Ask if they heard about this attack.

Still, the question does help Don's tongue to loosen a little, as well as his mind.]

Well, there...were the Assassins in the Middle East, back during the Middle Ages. They were the earliest group that could be called "terrorists" by modern standards.

[Should he go on? Sure. Why not. He just hopes he doesn't grandstand too much, too soon after his, er, moment of ignorance.]

Then there's the Black Hand in the Balkans. They were important because one of their adherents assassinated Franz Ferdinand and triggered the First World War and the modern world, really...

[Robin nodded and smiled as Don gave his answer.]

Very good. A lot of people tend to forget about the Black hand, and only remember the Assassination of Franz.

Now, why do you think these events keep repeating throughout history? Why do people make our past mistakes over and over?

[Indeed. But unlike those people, Donatello knows who the Black Hand is. He read the entire history book last night!]

Um, well...those that fail to learn their own history are doomed to repeat it? I mean, its the idea of trying to repeat the same action, expecting a different reaction this time around because someone's in a different group, or country, or other...place.

[Yup. Donatello, man of succinct psychology.]

Exactly. People tend to think they will succeed, or their cause is more just, then the people in the past. They are just fooling themselves. They need to learn that enslaving or killing a group of people because they are different is never the right answer, no mater how perfect or superior you think you are.

[Ms. Robin is preaching to the choir on that point. How many times had the Foot tried to pretty much do the same thing to him and his family? Way too many times.]

Yeah...
