This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the game opens, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.

Amon didn't react much to the sharp teeth. (Looking at what was left of his face was still one of the most frightening and disturbing images he had seen....)

"It's all right," Amon said, taking off his coat and beginning to wring it dry. "I was walking too close to the lake."

The sharkgirl pulled herself out of the water and set about wringing out her hair. She glanced around to make sure her clothing hadn't mysteriously wandered off. Luckily it didn't seem anyone had thought it a good idea to pull that prank on her.

She turned her attention back to the boy and smiled again. "I'm Aschka."

"Amon," he said, and gave his coat one last flap before slipping it back on. Then he remembered that polite manners probably demanded more. "A pleasure to meet you, Aschka."

She nodded and stood. "You can call me Asch." She did her best to dust the dirt and leaves off herself and made her way over to the clothes.

"Are you new here? Or have I just never seen you before?" Despite mutants being a minority, the school had a rather large student population. Easy not to know every single one here.

"New." she called back as she pulled on her shirt.

"Same here." Amon leaned against a nearby tree. "Are you adjusting well?"

Her earfins drooped in response to the question. For a few moments she remained silent, redressing herself and fussing with her gloves.

"Truthfully? No. The water here is terrible and it's too cold."

"Used to something warmer?"

She nodded, "Kauaʻi." She turned back to face him, still fidgeting with her gloves. Webbed hands were not really made for wearing gloves but she needed them. "Much prefer the warm saltwater to this," she motions to the lake, "cold murky thing."

"Big difference from there to here."

Watching her fidget with her gloves made him want to fidget with his.

"No kidding." She flexed her hands, finally satisfied with how her gloves were sitting.

She watched him fidget with his own gloves and smirked. "Got a problem there?"

Damn, he'd given into instinct and started fidgeting with his gloves without realizing.

"You were apparently infectious enough," he said.

Asch giggled before striding over to him. "So water you doing out here." Yes...she made a pun.

No comment on that pun. Like he was any better at telling jokes.

"Just taking a walk."

"Oh then I guess you would like to get back to that walk?"

[revolting_development]

"Why do you ask?"

[crabtasticsentinel]

"Well I wouldn't want to keep you standing around if you wanted to walk." Which could mean she was either going to follow him around or she was going to find something else to do.
