This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the game opens, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.

Does it feel bad? Bein' out in the sun, I mean. [ Might as well ask what was on her mind. ]

[She gives Yuugi a confused look, her fin-like ears flicker up and down.] What do you mean?

You've got... fish parts or something, right? Or is it lizard...?

Fish. [She pulls her scarf down to show the gill slits on the side of her neck.]

Ahh, I see 'em. [ She nods. At least she can recognize that much. ] So ... yeah. Is it weird bein' on land all the time? [ This is a serious topic, and not just her poking fun at the other girl. ]

[She tugs her scarf back up and narrows her eyes at the other girl.] I didn't live in the water before.

[ That was mostly a foot-in-mouth moment, and Yuugi laughs a bit. ] Nah, nah, that's not what I meant! Just... since those grew in. Or out. Or whatever ya call it. Just figured maybe you'd be more comfortable in the water or something.

[ With a grin, Yuugi gestures with her hands to indicate the breadth of her own shoulders. ] Kinda like I feel better in a bus than in a car. More headspace and all.

I've always had them. But...yeah I do feel more comfortable in the water. But the water here is cold and doesn't feel right.

Oh... [ Yuugi looked up at her horn. ] Guess it's not the same for everyone.

[ Then a curious hum. ] Cold, like... in the lake or the ocean?

Yah, some of us are born obviously mutants.

[She nods.] The lake is cold. And it feels...heavy.

[ She puts a hand up. ] No offense meant. [ Yuugi rests that hand against the side of her own neck. ] Heavy water... is it muddy?

[Aschka shakes her head and offers a half smile.]

No not muddy. See salt water makes the swimmer feel lighter because of the salt in it. Fresh water lacks that so it feels heavier to me.

Huh. I never knew that! [ Was that covered in class? Who knows. Yuugi certainly doesn't. ] That's kinda weird.
