Good afternoon.

[Here is an unfamiliar face on the intranet - unless, perhaps, you're a frequent reader of U.K. tabloids. Then you might have seen him shit-faced once or thrice. (It's so sad when a prominent, political family turns out a black sheep, isn't it?) He's sitting in a position that does nothing to disguise his small stature, not quite four-and-a-half feet tall. Might as well get that out of the way before the first class.]

My name is Tyrion Lannister - just "Tyrion" will suffice - and I'll be teaching some of you European history. Although, thankfully for both of us, it's late in the year for the beginning of new classes. I'll offer a few topical tutorials until year's end, so I can pretend as well as your other teachers to deserve my job...

[Then, without warning, there's the slightest change in his voice, a smoothing and softening that's likely to be perceptible only after the fact. And suddenly everyone without rock solid mental defenses will have a very hard time not accepting every word he says as an evident truth. At least for a few minutes.

Might as well get showing off his power out of the way, too.]

But I don't imagine you're thinking much about new coursework, what with that exam you've forgotten to study for, hm? Mathematics, wasn't it? And half your grade...well, I'm certain the Xavier Institute offers summer school for cases like yours.

Of all the reasons he had accepted Xavier's offer of a position at the Institute, Tyrion had to confess, the chance to see the inner workings of a band of superheroes had ranked high. Teaching? He could take or leave it, depending on how many muffled snickers greeted his first entrance into the classroom. But, really, how many opportunities in life did a man get to sleep above the X-Men's war-room? Or, even better, to fiddle with their super-advanced training room -- the adventure he had slated for this evening.

And so, anyone popping into the Danger Room's control chamber around the dinner hour would find a dwarf watching with quiet interest as he cycled slowly through some of the saved scenarios. (Anyone trying to pop into the actual Room would find the entrance doors locked for the program running inside.) A bottle of beer in hand, he tilted his head at a squad of ninja looking for someone to attack, a Sentinel scanning its empty surroundings and then unloading a few energy blasts just for good measure...

"Really, I expected to have found Summers' stash of hard-light pornography by now."

He'd have to ask someone where that was hidden. And possibly about the finer points of the Room's system.

[Simon Kemplar pops abruptly back into the awareness that he has no math test he needs to study for and in fact has never felt the need to study for a math test a few minutes after seeing the message.]

Alright. I can respect the ownage. That was legit.

[Tyrion simply smiles and holds his hands out to his sides in a neutral way.]

There must be a student somewhere at this school that I just saved from a horrible maths exam. I'm afraid the rest of you are collateral damage.

Are you the guy who got shitfaced with Geert van Houken once? [Zag is not normally good at knowing what's going on in the tabloids, but when it is about one of his football heroes having an episode, trust him to know. And actually that would be a reason to take this guy's classes, if it really was that short guy that the mags showed back then.]

[One might imagine from the way Tyrion's expression hardens that he doesn't find this the most appropriate question to pose a new teacher. Then, coolly:]

The name doesn't call any particular memory to mind, but, under the circumstances, I suppose that's not evidence one way or the other.
