This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.
Teemo | League of Legends (Teacher of Biology and Horticulture)
[Network]
[The message opens to an extreme close up of Teemo's tremendously excited fox-like face.]
Goooood morning, Scouts!
I hope those of you in my Biology classes are tired of video lessons, because the hands on part of class begins today. For those of you who don't know, which is likely most all of you, I am Captain Portillo, but I'd prefer you just call me Teemo. I am just returned from an impromptu vacation. So, if you've been trying to reach me about your grades, I'm sorry about that. To make up for it, how about some easy extra credit? I'll give you a question and you give me an answer. Simple as that.
[Action]
[Early in the morning, Teemo can be found fishing for breakfast by the lake. Every so often, he sits still long enough that his mutation makes him fade from view, but he seems to pop back into existence whenever he takes a sip of potent coffee from the enormous thermos sitting next to him.
Later in the day, with his short stature and stuffed backpack, Teemo looks an awful lot like an elementary age student. The way he wanders around aimlessly, silently reading off signs to himself doesn't help much either. Then again, anyone who's known him for more than an hour knows this is probably completely intentional. Anyone who starts to look too concerned is going to get their sleeve tugged on and asked for help in the cutest voice possible.]

[Pop quizzes and such suck, but practical tasks in biology can be fun. Sometimes you even get to go outside for them, or you can do things with potentially acidic or explosive substances... or take apart dead bodies... Or work with technical stuff...]

[Teemo is the sort of teacher who ruins bell-curves. He doesn't want to be in the classroom just as much as some of his students. Thinking you might get to go outdoors isn't just hitting he nail on the head; it's driving it clean through the board.]
Throughout the year, we'll be running an ongoing ecological survey of local flora and fauna. There will be plenty of chances to collect seed and spore samples, install wildlife cameras and census creekbeds. (See: hunt for mushrooms, climb trees and look at bugs... scientifically of course!!)

But this, this is pretty cool.

Also it seemed to be flickering in and out of view.
She squinted at the hallucination, wondered if she should make another attempt at napping.

Only after the initial arresting shock subsided did he venture a glance behind him. It didn't take long to pick out the offender. It was a girl or maybe more accurately a young woman. Of course it was, Teemo sighed to himself. Who was he expecting?
Oh well, not being one to let good company go to waste no matter how impromptu, he cast her several broad waves and called, "Good morning! Care for a coffee?"
no subject
It seemed it was offering her some. Either her hallucinations were more total than she thought or she was talking to another mutant...one shorter than any she'd met before. Well it wasn't like she was that much more normal looking herself, with her stubby grey wings.
"Ah, yeah. Thanks. That's exactly what I could use right now."

Teemo unclipped a telescoping cup from his pack, filled it and topped up the thermos lid with surprising ease considering the thermos was nearly half his height. Whether it was the result of practice or natural talent, it obviously wasn't a bother to him. On the contrary, he was as pleased as could be to have the company. She looked so tired and beat, he assumed she must be a student sneaking back onto campus.
"Here we are. If this doesn't wake you up, I'm afraid you're already dead." ,he chuckled holding out the cup in his thickly mittened hands.

"Wow, that's strong." And then the expression of surprise turned to a smile. "Which is how I like it. Are the fish biting?"
More than the fish, she was concerned about the forest's sizeable population of predatory birds. Certainly if one of them could knock Jaime out of the sky, it could do a number on this little guy. She looked up, unconsciously.

Teemo took a drink of his own coffee and followed the young woman's gaze out into the sky. He wondered if something was troubling her.
"Do you come out by the lake often, Miss?"

She took out a mini sketchpad from her pocket and hurriedly scribbled something. When she was done she closed her eyes, passed her hand over it, and in that hand was suddenly a small, writhing thing, rough around the edges like it had just stepped out of the Take On Me video but perfect for bait. "Here. Maybe this will help."

The scout nearly burnt his tongue, caught in awe at the sketchwork worm. "Isn't that amazing?" He seemed to be asking himself more than his guest. "I've never seen anything quite like that before." He slid off his right mitten and took the worm between the two small claws of his thumb and forefinger. He turned his wrist to feel it crawl around on the palm of his paw.
"And here I was going to ask if you spoke to fish." Teemo waddled back to the edge, reeled his line back in with his free hand and went about hooking his new bait.
this face is the best I can do to express how overwhelmed she is by his cuteness
"Nope. The best I think I could manage is drawing up one of those singing bass things." Watching him, the words 'my god, adorable' slipped in a quiet whisper from her lips like a powerful prayer. Realizing it, she looked away, embarrassed, hoping she hadn't just put him off by being patronizing.
