Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

Has he got climbing powers? Nope. Has he climbed on basically everything and scaled every building he's spent any amount of time in at least once? Sure has. He won't balance on the edge, though, on the off chance that someone he knows sees him and almost has a heart attack - indoctrination courtesy of his dear mother. Still, it's hardly surprising to find someone else up here, considering the nature of this school. And it'd be strange to be sharing a roof with someone without saying hi, even though he's not sure she's seen him yet.

"It's kind of pretty up here, isn't it?" he suggests from a point somewhat behind her, perched further up on the sloping roof.

"It isn't ugly, except when dogboy is chasing rabbits on this side of the grounds," Sasha had this annoying habit of being completely incapable of just saying something is nice. Her life isn't nice, the world isn't nice. If the world were nice one of the crossdressing brigade wouldn't find her when she's trying to be alone.

But... they weren't bad people, just extra freaky. "So did you come up here for the view and the solitude? Trying to find any personal place in this school is worse than a battle of wits with a Sicilian when death is on the line."

That got a soft laugh, because to be honest negativity was never a thing that put him off for long. "But not quite as bad as getting involved in a land war in Asia?" He hummed quietly, stretching his legs - no crossdressing for climbing, at least, since skirts got caught on things too easily and lets not even go into the whole ugly business of heels.

"But something like that, yes. It's pretty exhausting to always have people around, isn't it? And sharing rooms doesn't really help either."

"It isn't that dire here... all the time," Sasha glanced up at the laugh and fought off any urge to smile, just went back to being moody. She was up here to get away from it all, to sulk and be homesick. Then not tell anyone because it isn't there business.

"Exhausting, no. Annoying? Yes," Sasha didn't handle people well before her powers, with them it just made her worse. She hadn't been out here long enough to ease back to Black Swan from 'Defcon' Swan yet. There were too many people, the dance program was a joke, they wouldn't let her install a bar in her room. They wouldn't give her her own room. She was so much better of becoming a spinster in her apartment back in Paradise.

"Not all the time," he agrees, because sometimes things got pretty dire even without the occasional attack or kidnapping going down. Too many highly strung people crammed together until their lives blurred together, no free space, like some kind of pressure cooker that every once had to let off a lot of steam or the whole school would go sky-high. "Too much hormones and angst in one place becomes like a poison in the air, until even the most rational people catch it. We bathe in each other's emotional exhaust fumes." He wrinkles his nose. "Wow, that sounded gross. Anyway, add powers to that and it's no wonder we're all going mad - or severely annoyed, I guess."

[personal profile] ohcaptainmycaptain 2013-03-06 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"It is gross, cause it isn't like you're wrong. No wonder so many kids go through boarding schools like tissue paper," Her summer program at Joffrey was the first taste of how boarding programs worked, but there they had a goal that both unified them and separated them. Here there wasn't such an all encompassing feature to their life. Here they shared the same affliction as freaks.

"I'm only mad because here my powers are worse for me than out there," Sasha sighed, "and that's mad as in angry at being here, not losing my mind another one for the nuthouse. I don't plan on going that road. But someone will die if I end up fuzzy again."

"Oh, ouch." He winces in sympathy, because he can very well imagine how much it must suck to what is supposedly a haven for mutants only to fine that you have even more power issues than before. Kind of a nasty irony, really, especially if you weren't too fond of staying at a boarding school in the first place. "Mine's only made worse by the closeness of others in general, so at least it's a bit better here since people don't judge." Except for when his glamour went mad, because this place was apparently full of tragic backstories and dead relatives. "So you've got power mimicry or something like that?"
ohcaptainmycaptain: (What's that Hot Mess?)

[personal profile] ohcaptainmycaptain 2013-03-06 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Physical mimicry, anything you can do I can do," Sasha decides to be a bit nice and explain her torment, "With freaks and supers I just get anything you are I am. I'd get nothing to you, but I give the Blue Fuzzy teachers a good three foot distance." She wanted to be back home, her cute little apartment Martha Stewart would adore, her friends, her dance, everything...

"Right now I accidentally picked up someone's skill at climbing, and," she does a quick handspring onto her feet. Her balance and landing flawless, but clearly on a martial arts edge of the athletics, "I think I could punch out a bear. Not that I would ever want to, but I definitely feel I could manage that."

"Ohh, I see." Since she seems bothered by this ability more than anything else, he tries to hold back the natural enthusiasm he displays at finding out something new and intriguing. But he can't help but look a bit fascinated, or the curiosity that often is the bane of his existence. "That sounds rather amazing - but I can imagine that it's also a pain in the neck around these parts. Picking up someone's claws and fangs can't be that much fun." He chews his lower lip, and can't help but at least ask one question. "Does that only go for abilities, then? I mean, if someone who's overly clumsy - or even has a disorder that messes with their motor skills - should happen to walk into you, would you pick that up too?"

"It's never happened before, it's more... stuff they learned? They know how to do," Sasha shrugged. She didn't go into her usual problem with her shirt exploding from sudden wings. Then walked away from the edge, "if that does happen that would suck even more than most physical things I get. I mean, except wings. I know 'oh, wow, flying is so great' but it kills my shirts and I can't fly because I don't know how long I can keep a power."

"My reflexes are still in there, it isn't like I can't do this," she kicked a leg up to above her shoulder, and would have gone higher if it wasn't for her wearing pants instead of a dance leotard. It was always weird when she had blurry reflexes and skills... as she was still herself, but she also wasn't. "I don't want to find out if that happens. It's why I avoid the blind midget too."
comparative_insanity: (Not even laughter)

[personal profile] comparative_insanity 2013-03-06 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mmm, I see." Well, at least that hopefully meant she wouldn't walk into the Professor and suddenly have a rather acute leg problem. But he winced at the idea of sudden wings, humming in sympathy. "And especially since most winged mutants usually have pretty useless wings with something like telekinesis or gravity manipulation to make up for it. So you just grow sudden appendages without any practical use what so ever." He watches the the kick with fascination, the fluid grace with which she managed it. "Let me guess, you dance? I used to do show dance for a while, but it wasn't like didn't I scream 'Kick me' loud enough without adding that to the mix."

"Ballet, since I was four," Sasha eyed Fai a bit more, to see if any of the signs were there. It was there, but it wasn't very pronounced. Sasha was good, very good, she always was but she didn't need to brag too much, she knew she was good. Better than anyone, and it sucked that her training would be cut into here without a proper ballet teacher.

Other than the cat.

"Thanks, most of the wings won't work and leave me in my bra in public. Fantastic. I hate this place so much," She needed to get out of here, find a life away from here and Paradise and get away from all of this. This place was even worse than Paradise and she never thought she'd say that.

"And you've been training your ass off ever since, huh?" Hanging around Yuui didn't just mean that you got to meet a lot of musicians, but other artsy people as well, dancers most particularly. He'd been in a large number of operas for one so young, and Fai had been a teenager with a backstage pass - of course he'd been drawn to watching the people in leotards. "That must suck. I mean, this place has dance lessons, but not a proper dance program, right?" He tilted his head a bit. "My brother takes private lessons for his music, since he's got a bit the same problem, and I think the school offered to sponsor it. Do you have anything like that?"

Sasha looked down, "I don't really think it's my ass I worked off. But yes, lots of hard work." She was the envy of everyone at home, and while not the envy of all of Joffrey, she was more than capable at holding her own and she struck fear into at least some of the less driven dancers last summer.

"I haven't found one yet, but I'm working on it. Easier than setting up a utility, much easier," Sasha crossed her arms, "It's just it won't be the same. That's all."

"Mm, that's what my brother says too. From a fancy music school to this place... well, they do their best, but they just don't have the means to give any one student that much special treatment. And I imagine the difference between a normal high school dance teacher and someone who is more specialized is... quite big."

He shrugged gracefully. In a way it was the same way for him. Before he'd been sent here, they'd been considering sending him to a special needs school, and he would probably have had more help and teachers better equipped to deal with him there... but no one who could tell him what to do when he started borrowing people's faces. So you sacrificed something to gain something else. Looked like this girl had ended up with the muddy end of the stick though. "I guess you can't wait to be out of here, huh?"

"Madame Fanny was on pointe by age nine, and invited to a proper company at sixteen. She's strict, a little crazy, and impossible for any other dance teacher to come close. Michelle who helps out at the studio was hand picked by ABT and gave that up to be a Showgirl in Las Vegas," Sasha explained, with the same tone someone would list off groceries, or boring historical facts she's been asked to repeat a million times, "So yeah, big difference between them and anything this freakshow has to offer."

"I couldn't wait to be out of Paradise, it had no movie theater, everyone knew everything about everyone else, TAFT POKI RIP would shut down any chance for something good to show up in town, and the only reason I stayed was my friends and my dancing, so yes. As soon as I get out of here I'm going to get on with my life and never look back."
