This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

"It's kind of pretty up here, isn't it?" he suggests from a point somewhat behind her, perched further up on the sloping roof.

But... they weren't bad people, just extra freaky. "So did you come up here for the view and the solitude? Trying to find any personal place in this school is worse than a battle of wits with a Sicilian when death is on the line."

"But something like that, yes. It's pretty exhausting to always have people around, isn't it? And sharing rooms doesn't really help either."

"Exhausting, no. Annoying? Yes," Sasha didn't handle people well before her powers, with them it just made her worse. She hadn't been out here long enough to ease back to Black Swan from 'Defcon' Swan yet. There were too many people, the dance program was a joke, they wouldn't let her install a bar in her room. They wouldn't give her her own room. She was so much better of becoming a spinster in her apartment back in Paradise.

"I'm only mad because here my powers are worse for me than out there," Sasha sighed, "and that's mad as in angry at being here, not losing my mind another one for the nuthouse. I don't plan on going that road. But someone will die if I end up fuzzy again."

"Right now I accidentally picked up someone's skill at climbing, and," she does a quick handspring onto her feet. Her balance and landing flawless, but clearly on a martial arts edge of the athletics, "I think I could punch out a bear. Not that I would ever want to, but I definitely feel I could manage that."

"My reflexes are still in there, it isn't like I can't do this," she kicked a leg up to above her shoulder, and would have gone higher if it wasn't for her wearing pants instead of a dance leotard. It was always weird when she had blurry reflexes and skills... as she was still herself, but she also wasn't. "I don't want to find out if that happens. It's why I avoid the blind midget too."

Other than the cat.
"Thanks, most of the wings won't work and leave me in my bra in public. Fantastic. I hate this place so much," She needed to get out of here, find a life away from here and Paradise and get away from all of this. This place was even worse than Paradise and she never thought she'd say that.

"I haven't found one yet, but I'm working on it. Easier than setting up a utility, much easier," Sasha crossed her arms, "It's just it won't be the same. That's all."

He shrugged gracefully. In a way it was the same way for him. Before he'd been sent here, they'd been considering sending him to a special needs school, and he would probably have had more help and teachers better equipped to deal with him there... but no one who could tell him what to do when he started borrowing people's faces. So you sacrificed something to gain something else. Looked like this girl had ended up with the muddy end of the stick though. "I guess you can't wait to be out of here, huh?"

"I couldn't wait to be out of Paradise, it had no movie theater, everyone knew everything about everyone else, TAFT POKI RIP would shut down any chance for something good to show up in town, and the only reason I stayed was my friends and my dancing, so yes. As soon as I get out of here I'm going to get on with my life and never look back."
