This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

-Reimu plops himself down in a seat next to her, unceremoniously and pretty obviously without any intention to get in on the Magic of Reading. Somewhere, LeVar Burton is shaking his head and sighing in disappointment.-

I thought I'd find you here.

[It is her hope that one day Kosuzu will be able to convince Reimu to read some of her favorite books. Sadly she can tell that today is not the day to try. She pauses and slips a thin braid of string she carries as a bookmark into the novella so she can put the book down. She has had a few power slips lately and knows Reimu would appreciate being spoken to in a language he can actually understand.]

At least you didn't expect me to come bother you, I guess. How are you today, Reimu-kun?

Hungry, for the most part. Haven't had a snack since this morning. -And given how his own powers worked, a constant calorie supply was a must.-

[She giggles. Gee, there's something she's heard a million times before. It's almost comforting to hear now that she's in a new place and far from home.]

I bet you're eating more than ever now. Or are you able to get a hold of that much food?

America has quite the bounty of cheap snackfood. I'm usually pretty okay.

Then why haven't you gone and snacked already, instead of coming to find me?

... I wanted to see if I could pry you out of here to grab some food.

Prying a bibliophile away from the thrill of a new library is pretty bold. This isn't some ploy to get me to buy you food is it? [Because let's face it this has probably happened before. She waves her hand as if to let Reimu know that her question is more teasing than serious and gathers up her books, making sure that the one on the bottom is in Japanese.]

Where are we going?

McDonald's. I want to try the new fishy bite things.

[She should have expected this answer.] Of course you do. Let me go put these away in my room and I'll be ready to go.

I can't follow you into the dormitory, though. -Stating the obvious. Also apparently impatient.- Just put them in your bag and take them with you.

[Kosuzu was going to suggest they meet back at the main door so she can stash away her finds. If he's going to be this impatient she's the one who's going to take advantage of the situation. And maybe flash Reimu some puppy-dog eyes.]

But there's so many, it's going to feel heavy after a while. Reimu-kun why don't you carry them?

-Like well aimed daggers from a professional badass ninja assassin, Kosuzu's pleading always manages to get him right in the heart and burst out compassion like the blood in low budget genre films. Or something.-

... Fine. Put some in my bag. It's mostly empty right now.

[Yes, or something. She divides the books evenly between each of their bags and smiles back up at Reimu when she's done.]

All right let's go get some more food in your stomach. I've heard that American McDonald's tastes different from those at home. I will admit to being a little curious.

It's definitely more American. -As if that meant anything.-

[Reimu, please, you're killing her here.]

Gosh I'll bear that in mind then.

Also... my treat. -WA SHOCK- Just this time, though.

[Kosuzu's not sure whether to tease or legitimately worry about that statement.]

That's so generous Reimu-kun. Are you sure you're feeling all right?

Don't read too much into it. You're still adjusting to American life, so I should be accommodating. It's only polite.

Polite or not, it's still very nice of you to do. [She loops her arm around his.]

It really is nice to see you again. I missed you.

-... Okay the arm linking and holding her hand thing was cute when they were kids but now it's kind of awkward... Even if Kosuzu is still a lot shorter, they're still closer to 'adult' than they were the last time they were this close.-

[You do realize she's not going to stop unless you ask her to, right? Because she is pretty damn happy right now.]

[Kosuzu rolls her eyes. Sometimes Reimu just doesn't understand what she's actually saying, but that's nothing new nor surprising.]
