This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

Marie | Rhythm Thief

[Marie didn't practice her violin outside very often, but the fresh air would do her some good. Practicing in the music room was all well and good, but there was already some people in there and she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to bother them.

People around would probably hear the song Marie was playing before they saw her, and she seems really intent on her playing. Almost like she was in her own little world where she could pretend she was at home.]

[Soccer practice had ended early for some reason or another and Charlie was left to wander for a bit-- any plans she'd made for the rest of the afternoon weren't for a while yet, and so she'd decided a walk around the grounds would do some good. She's lost in thought until she catches the familiar sound of a violin, and that song-- she'd only heard it a couple times before, but... no way. It couldn't be! ...Could it?

It's not difficult to track down the source, so when Marie finishes playing, she'll find (a quite surprised and slightly awed) Charlie standing nearby.]

[Marie lowers the violin when she's done playing, and her expression brightens once she notices the detective.] Charlie!

[Quickly, she puts her violin and bow back in the case and closes it before she stands up and jogs over to Charlie.]

[Charlie smiles back a bit awkwardly as Marie approaches. Why was she here? Charlie could only guess it was because something had happened back home, but decides to keep the speculation quiet, for now.]

I must admit, I was not expecting to see you here, mademoiselle. Your playing is as impressive as ever...

Ah, thank you. I'm happy to see a familiar face so quickly after getting here.

[She is so happy she could hug Charlie, but she won't because she's pretty sure Charlie wouldn't appreciate that--]

[Yeahhh hugging's not really her thing most of the time, but the detective offers a smile all the same.]

You have just arrived, then? [That clears up who had moved into the newly occupied room...]

I have!

Mother thought it would be a good idea for me to stay here, since it would be a far cry safer than home.

[penaltykicktothehead]

[Safer? Charlie's brow furrows as soon as she hears the word. Had something new developed in the PI's absence? Why hadn't Father spoken about any of this in his messages?]

The Chevaliers...

[But they'd put them behind bars, hadn't they?! Most of them...]

Did they attempt another move?

... They haven't, but... well, better safe than sorry, right? They haven't attempted anything... but that doesn't mean they wouldn't, right?

[Though, now that she brought it up, it made her worry about Raphael...]

[Relief flashes over Charlie's features briefly, shoulders-- previously rather tense-- lowering a little. Better safe than sorry, indeed..]

You have a point. Before I came here, Father and I had come across a gang of stragglers, but I hadn't thought too much of it at the time. If there is a resurgence, at least you will be here.

[And so would Charlie. Effectively, the duchess' daughter would be under the watch of the school's ... usually capable staff.

...Perhaps Charlie ought to keep an eye on her, too.]

...Seeing as they're miles away, though, best not to worry about their kind for now. Have you seen much of the school, yet?

Ah, not really. Mostly just the girls' dormitories and the music room. [The latter of which she had to be led to. Oops.]

[Well! It seems Marie chose the perfect place to play - down underneath the shut-in's window.
Sabitsuki leans out her window to get a better look at first, before ducking back in... and dropping her pillow out onto the violinist.]

Whoops!

[Heh.]

Ah! [HEY, DON'T DROP THINGS ON THE VIOLINIST WHILE THEY'RE PRACTICING...

Well, luckily, Marie doesn't get too angry. She puts the violin in its case and stands up, holding the pillow and calls up to Sabitsuki.]

I'm sorry, was I disturbing you?

[ironoxides]

Nah. I just wanted to start up a conversation!

Hey, you think you can bring that up to me?

[c:]

Oh! Of course! I'll be up as soon as possible! [But putting her violin away properly first!

Once she does that, she picks it up and goes inside with the pillow tucked under one arm. It takes her a while to figure out which door leads to Sabitsuki's room, but when she does, Marie knocks on the door.]

[ironoxides]

[There's the sound of multiple locks (and multiple TYPES of locks) unlocking, only for her to peek out - but when she sees it's the victim of her pillow dropping, she opens the door wide and moves a bit so Marie can come in.]

Thanks for bringing that back up.

[markedviolin]

[... That's a lot of locks. Marie slips into the room, smiling.]
