This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. [Ib was lost. Very, very lost. This school was huge and unlike anything she'd ever seen before. Anyone looking at the girl could probably tell she was lost, too--she was just standing in the courtyard, with her suitcase, staring up at the school.

Intimidating? Juuuuust a bit.]

Sick? Are you alright?
Were you taken care of properly?

I was. It wasn't anything too bad, just a stomach bug.

[Still kind of gross though.]

A stomach bug... are you feeling alright now?
I can pop in for a sec if you need anything at all!

[You know him and his mama tendencies.]

I'm feeling okay!

[A pause, before she adds-- ] Would you mind stopping by anyway?

Not at all, not at all.

[And without another word, he's on his way! But he's not going to just walk into her room because that's still creepy.
Nah, he's gonna knock.]

Ib? It's Garry!

It's open!

[Plus, her roommate's not in at the moment 'w' She's just lying on her bed and working on homework, so...]

[And now he'll mosey on in.]

... My, no wonder you wanted me around - it's awfully lonely in here!

My roommate isn't here a lot...

[It's not like she particularly minds, but it is pretty lonely...

She'll just. Set that homework aside. Yeah.]

... So I see...

Well! If you ever need company, just give me a call, alright?

[And he'll mosey over there to take a seat at the end of her bed!]

I will. [She scoots closer to that end of the bed, moving around a bit so that she's sitting on her knees instead of lying down.]

[A girl with a rather large hat is standing against a tree somewhere behind Ib.]

[Ib jumps and turns around to face Marisa. She rubs the back of her neck, a bit embarrassed.]

I... can't really find the girl's dorms... I think I might need a little help...

Here, lemme lead ya there.

[She starts walking in front of Ib, motioning for her to follow. She'd do it for free, this time, she thought to herself. Works better to meet new people and establish herself as a helper and then later getting things in return for her help.]

It's a bit of a walk, th' place is fairly large.

Looks like it... [Ib's quick to follow, dragging her suitcase behind her.]

[She just blinks a couple times, before she adds--] I got the assignment that I missed, but the teacher said I had to get the notes from someone else...

Oh, I'm in eighth... But maybe I can help you make some new ones! [no, bad idea]

No, no, that's all right. I could probably track down one of my classmates... I hope.

Okay, but if you need any help with anything else, I'm free for the rest of the day. [terribly bored, this one]

[She thinks for a moment.

She could always do her assignments later.] I've got a while before I have to finish my assignments... If you want to hang out or something, I'd be up for it.

Hang out? Sure! I haven't really explored all of the grounds and facilities yet.
