This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

And of course he doesn't mind at all - that's what they're there for! Garry just smiles and nods at that, going around to straighten things the rest of the way. "Well, I most definitely appreciate it! I had considered buying one or two new ones for this, but, er..."

He pauses there, to nervously clear his throat.

"I seem to have spent the rest of my money on the refreshments and the movie. Do keep that a secret though, will you?"

"I'll take it to my grave." He grinned a bit. He'd actually been tempted to get blankets out of Shindou and Toushirou's room and replace them later, but it was a bit much.

"And I don't think anyone would mind, anyway." He chuckled.

That gets a little chuckle from the teacher, and he finally takes a small break, reclining in his chair. "Moving furniture around can really take a lot out of you..."

Oh - he sits up straight then, moving to dig the movie out of his bag. "I think I should ask; this is one of the new movies you kids have all been dying to see, right? I want to make sure this is something extra fun."

"Tell me about it..." Hi, he had to move furniture around his house a lot.

Kirino looked at the case, expression lighting up a bit. "Yeah, it is! I haven't seen it myself, but I read some really good reviews for it." In the meantime, he just helps himself to another macaron.

Don't eat all of them, Kirino! But Garry's expression lights up to match, and he sets it on the desk for now. "Good! I was nervous I may have gotten something you all wouldn't enjoy - but I know I can take your word for it, Kirino!"

Hey, this is only his second one...!

"Honestly, I'm pretty sure nobody will complain. Especially since it gets us all out of doing classwork." And really, if they didn't like it, they could always just sleep. It was the perfect environment for it, after all. Lights dimmed, blankets and pillows...

He isn't going to be surprised at all if a lot of them end up sleeping - he might end up doing so as well, in fact.

"Right! Besides... it was either this or study hall, hmm?" Which isn't something he'd want to subject on his students; they could be doing something fun to keep their morale up, after all!

"Right." Ugh. Study hall. Something he'd been subjected to twice already today. "Movies are better by a long shot."

Kirino glanced over to the center of the room, tempted to get settled in, himself. He shifted his bag with his laptop, wondering where he could put it so that it was out of the way.

Oh! Garry catches onto what Kirino needs fairly quickly, and takes a couple pillows and blankets over towards the outlet on the wall - setting up a little nest for his student with a smile.

"There. Would this work?"

"Ah! Yes, that's perfect. Thanks." He walked over to set his bag down, making sure there was enough space so that he could keep refreshments nearby without much fear of spilling them. Might as well start setting up now, as opposed to when the movie was starting...

He'll just take a seat in his chair again then, hands holding the edge of the seat in his lap as he spins a bit idly. If it wasn't obvious, before class is the most boring part of teaching.

"Is there anything you would like for your little nesting area? Refreshments, perhaps? A lamp?"

"Well, if it wouldn't be too much trouble..."

In other words, yes to both of those. Even if he wouldn't admit it, he's still been eying those macarons every now and then...

"No trouble at all!" He hops off the chair then, grabbing a paper plate and setting it up cutely with snacks for his student - as well as getting him a cup of soda, before handing them off to him.

"Here you go! Find a place for those, while I go get my extra desk lamp for you."

He nods, settling in once again and putting down the snacks and soda--adjusting them so that they were in arm's reach, but not near the laptop, and not where someone could come over and knock over the cup of soda by accident.

And he flutters back over eventually, setting a lamp down next to Kirino and plugging it in for him. It's just bright enough to be used, and the neck is bendy! "Here you are! I've had this one around for a while... I hope you don't mind a bit of dust."

"It's not a problem. Thank you."

He glanced over to the door, and out at the relatively empty hallway. "Doesn't look like there's a lot of people coming in..."

The class was relatively small, anyway, but...

"... Er. I'm sure it's... just a matter of time, that's all." Though it's definitely worrying... he's just trying to keep a happy appearance for his students' sake.

"To be frank, I wouldn't mind if anyone decided to skip my class for today; I'll likely be taking it as a break for myself as well."

Here, he pauses, clearing his throat again before continuing, "In fact, if it ends up being simply you and I... you're free to go about whatever you'd like."

"... I think I'd rather stay in here. Charlie wouldn't dare cut class and... I don't really have any other friends that are at the school right now."

Sad, but true. He picked up his cup of soda, sipping at it. Was it an attempt to avoid saying more on the matter? Possibly.

"Don't forget to smile, eh? Sure I can do that for you."

And he hugs her back. Yes it is stupidity for her benefit and he's aware that he can get annoying.

The bop causes him to giggle. There's....no promise on the water torture but he'll try and go easy on the guy. Maybe. In a few months. Or a year.

"I'm your friend, at least...!" He knows it doesn't really help - especially since it's probably weird coming from a teacher - but at least there's someone else watching out for Kirino while the others are away, right?

"... Right." That does get Kirino to smile a bit. "I'm glad."

He really was, too. Garry was someone he could look up to and get advice from! (Sure, Kirino had Charlie for that too, but there were certain things that he'd rather not discuss with her--)

Sooooo... I thought schools were supposed to be boring? But doesn't really look like it happens here.

[Is she even allowed to say that? Well it's too late now! Might as well go with it.]

Whats the chance I would get in trouble if I tried painting the trees? I'm not saying I did it! This is just a hypo... Hypothetical!

[Ahhh. Mary hopes that's the right word or she's going to feel stupid in a second.]

[Mary shouldn't have tried to figure out the maze by herself. It's a maze! She can't even do them on paper most days, but no. It seemed like it would be fun. That was 30 minutes ago and if this bush doesn't show her the exit now she will cut it down! Anyone nearby can probably hear Mary's frustrated groaning and not so creative insults and threats she's yelling at the carved bush.]

Yeah, no, quiet school life isn't a thing here. We're lucky if we go one month without something happening. [Mostly because that "something" is usually bad.] It's nothing if not interesting.

Can't really give you an answer on the tree thing, though.
