This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

"It's fine." He shrugged back weakly. All in all, it wasn't the weirdest position his mental vulnerability had put him in here. "It's just strange, not knowing what you're looking at."

"Invasive" was a better word. "Hacking up things," however, pulled his attention away from that subject. He'd thought those coughs from before hadn't sounded like they came from a winter chill. That made it sound really serious...

"Oh. You should get inside, then." He glanced back towards the front of the building, where some of his fellow gym students could be seen jogging by on their own laps. "I need to get back to class, anyway. What room are you in?"

"I'm in [insert a room here heh]. You better swing by later, okay?" she says, adding an actually friendly look smile to it. She doesn't get a lot of people to talk to, after all.
Having him around might be nice.

... Oh - though she definitely has to add --
"If you talk to a guy with crosses on his eyes though - you and me? Never met. Got it?"
All in all said pretty seriously. Shindou meeting Smile... probably definitely maybe won't go well. Perhaps.

["Some foreign country" confuses him for a moment until he realizes that, yeah, someone who doesn't know languages besides English and Spanish would probably be unable to place it. ...Or at least he assumes that she would only know those. That are the ones that Americans speak, right?]

We had a really good art teacher at my last school.

Mm, good teachers are usually a good reason to learn how to do something.

I can... hmm, change how people see me, both literally or more figuratively, see? [He grimaces slightly.] There's no way of saying that without it sounding way more creepy than it is. I'm not some master manipulator, but that's what it sounds like.

My last art teacher had me drawing trees. As an art project kinda thing. It's not that much of a difference. I don't think a tree cares as much about rules as Principle Pri-Summers does though. [ Was it really okay to be joking like this with a teacher? And about another teacher as well? ]

And it's after this that Irezumi - or as he was better known "Smile" - decided to go for a walk. It was rather nice out and Irezumi was content to skip class for once and wander around. The tattoos on his face kind of attracted a lot of attention but he was used to it at this point.

That, and there was another point to this. He may or may not have heard that his dear sister was seeing someone and Irezumi may or may not want to...talk to this person. Or Sabitsuki about this. Either or.

And after seeing that post over the network, Sabitsuki decides to go look for her dear, sweet older brother - he's missing a date with her blunt instrument, after all. Can't let him miss out on his appointments!

... Luckily it doesn't take her long to find him, so he'll be hearing her from down the hall, in... extremely informal Japanese, "{Irezumi! Where the hell did you wander off to!?}"

Oh god he knows where this is going. Irezumi can't help the burst of laughter that comes from his mouth and turns a corner at random.

As much as he'd like to keep his appointment, Irezumi has other business. Better run if you want to catch him!

"Damnit, don't run.." is all she manages to say through grit teeth as she books after him. Days like this is when she starts considering chaining him to her desk - at least then she can keep an eye on him!

And so she's bounding after him, armed with her ever trusty pipe (which has oddly not yet been confiscated), hoping - praying - he'll slow down enough for her to catch up. Because let's face it - he's way more fit than she'll ever be.

You'll probably need really really thick chains to keep him in once place Sabitsuki. He's like a constantly smiling Houdini.

But he does slow down a little bit to give her a chance to keep up. Irezumi knows that she probably can't keep up if he goes full tilt and as much as he doesn't want to be brained with a pipe, he also didn't want to make her sick again.

Sorry, but Irezumi slowing down means Sabitsuki speeding up - pushing herself just a tad over her limit so she can get close! But this also means overworking herself enough for some drawbacks - and she ends up tripping onto the carpet, effectively knocking the wind out of her and sending her into a small coughing fit.

Can she just lay there, curled up on her side like that? Is that a thing that's okay? Because after that she's pretty sure she wants to just lay there.

Oh crap! The minute that Irezumi heard his sister fall he spins around and makes his way back. Oh man, don't be a relapse or something, please don't be something he'd have to get the maid for...

"Sabitsuki?! You alright?"

Yeah... that doesn't fly with her. Even while she still coughs, she reaches out and hooks a hand around his ankle once he's close enough. There may be a little blood from how hard she'd been coughing but hell if that's going to stop her!

... Well, alright, so she's been essentially stopped. All she manages to really do is sit up a bit with that hand around her older brother's ankle and wheeze as she catches her breath again.

"I'm... fine. Fine."

[It all depends, it all depends... Yeah, no, Smile's probably never going to see that rope]

Bored, mostly. Been playing games and doing schoolwork. And soccer. Not much other than that. Pretty good otherwise.

"You're sure?" He knows his sister sometimes (okay, often) said she was fine when she wasn't. Irezumi wasn't stupid and he decided to bend down to check on her in favor of trying to get out of her grip.

Well - as soon as he's close enough then, she's grabbing that pipe again and giving it one mighty swing - or as mighty as she can manage - and letting it hit him square on the... well, hopefully the head, but it might have been his shoulder. And then she lets herself collapse, letting go of her brother in favor of rolling onto her back with the dumbest, proudest, most tired looking grin.

"Got you."

She might need to be carried back after that, but goddamn if she isn't proud of herself right now.
