This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

Bumblebee let out a sigh as he plopped down upon the couch inside of the rec room with his tablet pc in hand. Classes had ended for the day and he’d already burnt through most of his homework for them. He still had some worksheets to do, but those wouldn’t be all that difficult. Right now, he was just happy for a break from all of the work. He was still adjusting to this place and seeing all the different powers and types of mutations that were out there. He’d yet to make any friends, though. He would really need to get on that.

He wasn’t all that sure what to do on his break, but when all else failed, turn to the internet. He took out his stylus before bringing his tablet out of sleep mode.

It feels a little weird being at a school only for mutants. I wanted to come here a while ago, but my parents never let me. Well, not until now.

But anyway, introductions. My name is James, but I go by Bumblebee. I look forward to meeting you all.

There are probably a lot of things that I should know about it. Is there any rules against using our abilities?

That would depend on how your abilities work. You can't use them to cheat on academic tests or endanger other classmates. You're expected to keep them under control as much as possible.

That sounds reasonable. Is there a curfew or anything here?

Around 9pm. If you wish to stay out of trouble, don't be out long after dark.

9pm? That's pretty early, isn't?

There anything else you think I should know?

No.

Be cautious. The brotherhood attacked the school recently.

They did? I knew about the attack at the protest, but I didn't know that there had been another one.

Yes, they invaded the school about a month ago.

And here I thought this was supposed to be a safe school. Why did they attack this place?

I don't know. I choose to stay inside of my room the whole time.

But judging by their extreme actions, they probably don't approve of this school.

I hope no one got seriously injured during that attack. The brotherhood are even bigger jerks than I thought they were.
