This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

Youmu loved the respite in her hectic days that Wood Shop offered. Frankly, it was the only class that didn't make her wrack her brain trying to listen in English or struggle with math light-years beyond what her rural education had taught her. She'd been chopping wood almost as long as she could remember, but she'd never considered it anything more than a chore. Now, only a few weeks in, class was over far too quickly if you asked her. She even impressed herself how much she'd taken to the craft; Each piece was getting increasingly meticulous and ambitious. She'd started bringing in interesting pieces of wood from her morning "practice" routine and liked to watch them dry in the kiln when she could. Something about the whole process put her at ease, it was like training or meditating or sword-making

Youmu shot up in her chair. "Ms. Carver, I've forgotten an important tool in my room." A second later, she was out the door like a flash. Moments after, she was back with two sheathed swords and a beaming smile. "I have a new idea for a project!"

Ms. Carver couldn't help laughing to herself, managing to waddle over to Youmu's seat by the time the girl returned. Youngsters these days were so energetic. Regardless, it brought a smile to Ms. Carver's face to seem one of her students so passionate about a subject she herself loved.

The teacher eyed the swords, but not with disapproval. She wasn't opposed to a little creativity. "And what would that idea be, lass?"

The raven, also intrigued, glided over and landed on her owner's head. "This oughta be good."
