She might have been snagging a little catnap somewhere. Her own office, another staff member's . . . hell maybe in her own classroom while the kids were taking a test. She might have been. But she wasn't. It just looked that way to outside observers.
What better way to observe the world than to allow it to go by as if you weren't even there? The faculty was far more likely to be able to tell that she was awake than any student.
But just try to slip something past her, kids. She might surprise you.

It was a good day to get out and stretch her legs -- all four of them. Yoruichi padded about the grounds in her feline form, recommitting every possible detail to memory. Few were going to think anything amiss with a curious little black cat, and she trotted around with impunity.
If anyone saw her, she would act the part of the proper kitty. She did enjoy a good ear-scratch or little food gifts, after all. And people trusted animals. Talked to them. It was an amazingly useful way to gather information, this form.
