This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

[Lancer has no words. Instead, he just makes a noise that sounds like a mix between sputtering, choking, and screaming.]

[He's trying not to laugh, that makes him sound insincere, but... Yep.]

[It looks out of place on Archer's face. It really does.]

I'm not that one-dimensional. But if it really bothers you that much, I'll be sure to avoid it from now on.

[No matter what Lancer says in reply to that, chances are he'll be digging his own grave.]

It just so happens that Makoto happens to be perusing the place. Probably checking in and out books as usual. When the offer of a game comes up, she shakes her head.

"No." She said plainly. But perhaps Celes can rope her in anyhoo. And if not she'll be over on the next table watching her play card tricks.

What? The friendly or the smiling?

That got a good laugh out of her. "And what would people think, hmm? Rumors fly about this place quite quickly, you know. Perhaps you're trying to take advantage of me~"

If you're that unsettled by it, why not both?

And, in reply, he pretended to look thoughtful. Rumors? Clearly, this was a matter of grave importance. "Ah, but isn't the cliche supposed to be the other way around? It's not often that a man's cooking is given credit for winning over a woman."

If I knew what a friendly you acted like, I might be tempted to tell you to keep the friendly.

If there was one thing Yukari was good at, it was pretending to be far more intimidating than her powers suggested. As it stands, she is probably one of the weaker mutants if she were to be thrown into a fight... which is precisely why she avoids them.

...but she never could leave well enough alone sometimes.

"Me?" The woman looked appalled at the accusation, hand to her chest and everything! "Whatever do you mean, child?"

"Don't play dumb. You know how." Katt folded her arms, trying to bully it out of her. If only because... no, yeah... it still didn't make sense how she did it.

She is unimpressed by the tiger's body language... though she is cute-looking, and that's likely why Yukari went through all this trouble in the first place. Chasing after her any other way would have been undignified. "So many accusations...

"Can you provide proof?" She said with amusement tugging at her features. The girl probably can't, which is what made this fun.

She thought about this for a second. Did she have proof? Not really, aside from a few circumstantial things there was no indication that this person should have been the one that was interfering. Yet...

"Your smell is everywhere. Even in places where you ain't suppose to. An' you're standin' where you are, even when there are no tracks in the snow." Again, a long shot, but it was as good a guess as any.

"I suppose that means we're safe then. Just two friends enjoying a lunch together. And if anyone else protests, then they'll just have to go read more bad romance novels for their fix." Ran chuckled, more honestly this time, though she did so while snatching yet another bit of food.
