This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before applying, and to see if things "click". Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.
Nico Robin | One Piece
When not teaching a class, Robin liked to sit and observe the rest of the school. During lunch, she usually found herself sitting under the same tree, eating her lunch while watching everyone else interact and enjoy herself. It wasn't that she liked being alone, not at all. Just just enjoyed observing, since that is what she has always done.
She thinks back to some of her previous travels to India, walking down a street on the way to some old Hindu ruins in the jungle. The kids playing on the street, oblivious that the lady walking past them was a mutant. She compared them to how these mutant kids in front of her were playing just the same way.
She smiled. If only people could realize that they were not so different from each other.
However, she was interrupted from her thoughts as an object goes flying towards her head. Without even flinching, a hand grew from her shoulder and caught it. She turn towards the direction it came from, and smiled at who caused it to fly toward her.
"I believe this is yours."
[Action: History Class(right after the NYC incident)]
[As you walk into class the teacher Miss Nico Robin is sitting at her desk, reading a book titled, "Utopias: A Brief History from Ancient Writings to Virtual Communities" Behind her There is a arm coming out from the wall, writing down the days assignment. Seems to be a continuation from last weeks class on Mesopotamia.
When the bell Rings, Her arm finishes writing on the board, and she closes her book. She stands up and walks to the front of the class.]
Welcome again. I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. Before we start today's subject, I wanted to talk about what happened last weekend in New York City. Can anyone here tell me what they know about the Brotherhood of mutants?
History Class
The information you seek is in an open file inside the school's database. Accessing.
[The technopath brushes aside one window and expands his hand to bring up another. He then finds what he's looking for and blinks, bringing up the data on the flat screen television as if it was a normal thing.]
History Class
Well, I supposed I didn't say you couldn't look it up. Elian, why don't you tell the class about their leader then.
History Class
[He stands up and walks toward the front of the class. He was too small to give his speech from his desk unless he stands on the seat, but he'll have better control over the monitor if is closer to it. His hand makes a motion and pokes at the air again to bring up Magneto.]
Magneto: Born by the name Max Eisenhardt, Aliases: Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, Erik the Red, Grey King, White King, Michael Xavier, "the Creator," White Pilgrim, Prisoner #214782. Leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants once known as the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants due to the onset of the good versus evil mentality at the time prior to our generation's existence.
His ideals once coincided with Professor Xavier's and through their shared vision they were at one time friends. The helmet that is used to shield Magneto from telepathic invasion or upper thought reading is made from the same material that shields Cerebro; a device used to track down mutants with the hopes to bring them together for the cause of education and power refinement.
Magneto's vision eventually became warped once the war began that caused the rift between the Professor and himself to grow. Magneto chose the ideal that in order for mutants to survive, they should not hide in society but rather force their way in, according to some accounts. He uses the media as a tool to send his message that the strong shall survive and that mutants are the next step in evolution.
In consideration of this ideal, while true, the school was not built on the purpose of exploitation but rather for the achievement of peaceful co-existence through education and ability use to achieve a goal both personal and social. Magneto's approach to his ideals is much more aggressive, it is not the answer to achieve peace through force.

History Class
I was unaware we were doing a psychological profile in a history class. I am not a psychologist. If you are asking about an event that may have sparked his path, it was the Holocaust.
History Class
Yes, his view of humans came from the Holocaust, a terrible event in our world. An event that is not uncommon in our history sadly. From as far back as the Egyptians and Mesopotamia, people have always enslaved and killed others just because they are different. It is one of the most reoccurring themes in our worlds history.
Mr. Eisenhardt fell into the same trap that caused his own pain and suffering. Knowing history can help prevent us from falling into these same traps. History repeats itself if we fail to learn from it.
Elian, given what we have seen in the past, can you give us some guesses on how the future of human/mutant relations will be? Just going by how history has shown with situations of attempted Genocide.

Of course, the staring was only for a moment before she let out a huge grin and ran up to her. "Wow! Thanks! Who knows how far that would've gone if you didn't grab it!?"

Chika waited for another moment, before deciding that it was probably okay to ask this question. "Umm, you're a teacher here, right?"
Outside Gardens
A slight wind blew one of her strands of hair over her eye, and she gently moved it back. "I am. I actually just started teaching here a few days ago."

A pair of arms bloom from Kida's back. They then proceed to poke Kida in the head.]
Always happy to oblige~
[The bottle blond shoots up in surprise, whirling his head every which way to try to figure out what happened. It's not until his dazed eyes land on the history teacher that he pauses, comprehending he that he is probably in a history class, and then cranes his neck to view the arms at his back.
Situation officially understood, Masaomi turns back to Robin with an apologetic grin.]
Mornin', Teach! Think I can borrow your alarm clock for physics too?
[It's probably not morning.]
Re: Always happy to oblige~
Sorry, but I can't play favorites. I have other kids I need to keep awake as well.

Maybe you should teach phys ed instead. Save yourself the hassle.

Really? Really? Don thought he knew a lot of things, but he sure as shell didn't know about that. How ironic. Him, not even knowing what was happening right above his own head before he
crashedtrespassedentered the Institute just days before. This was his first day in any of his classes, and he already felt awkward.Hence, hello, new student with a deer in headlights expression on his face as he stares at the blackboard like an 18-wheeler coming at him.]
[Action: History Class]
Ah, I apologize. I didn't realize we had a new student.
The Brotherhood of mutants is a group of mutants run by Magneto. Their goal is the opposite of our good headmasters. They want to take over the world and annihilate all regular humans. In NYC the other day an attack happened that was planned by them.
I bring this up because groups and events like them have existed throughout history. Can you name a couple Donatello?
[Action: History Class]
[Brotherhood of Mutants is run by "Magneto". They want to take over the world and annihilate humans.
Write to his family and warn them about this group of people. Ask if they heard about this attack.Still, the question does help Don's tongue to loosen a little, as well as his mind.]
Well, there...were the Assassins in the Middle East, back during the Middle Ages. They were the earliest group that could be called "terrorists" by modern standards.
[Should he go on? Sure. Why not. He just hopes he doesn't grandstand too much, too soon after his, er, moment of ignorance.]
Then there's the Black Hand in the Balkans. They were important because one of their adherents assassinated Franz Ferdinand and triggered the First World War and the modern world, really...
[Action: History Class]
Very good. A lot of people tend to forget about the Black hand, and only remember the Assassination of Franz.
Now, why do you think these events keep repeating throughout history? Why do people make our past mistakes over and over?
[Action: History Class]
Um, well...those that fail to learn their own history are doomed to repeat it? I mean, its the idea of trying to repeat the same action, expecting a different reaction this time around because someone's in a different group, or country, or other...place.
[Yup. Donatello, man of succinct psychology.]
