This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the game opens, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.

[Okay, yes, Aschka is fairly used to seeing weird things. After all she is a fish (shark) girl. But polishing horn? Yeah that ranks up there on the weird meter.

Not that it stops her from bouncing over to settle on the other end of the bench.]

Do you do that often?

[ Yuugi grins at the company, but doesn't stop. ] Only when it gets dirty.

What do you do that makes it dirty? [How does a horn even get dirty?]

Haha, you'd be surprised! [ She briefly looks away, then turns her head over and down to the girl. ] I kinda got some clay on it.

[She stares at her in complete confusion.] How...?

Art project! [ Like that explains everything. ]

That involved flinging clay around?

No, see, I put it on my face. We were making masks and I thought "hey, I got to get the horn!" [ ...Yuugi, that was paper-mache. ]

Oh! That makes sense then. [Aschka is not the artistic sort, she doesn't know the difference.] Is it a really awesome mask?

Dunno. It's my face. Depends on if you think I've got an awesome face or not. [ Cocky? Not really. She's just messing around. ]

You didn't paint it up to be a demon or something?

Didn't get that far. I was a bit slow at it. [ Yuugi frees one hand so she can open and close her fingers. They are the very model of "man-hands". ] Not too precise with these.

[Aschka eyes her hands then holds up her own, which while gloved it's clear they're webbed.] Yeah, same here.

So we've got that in common. Sorta. [ Back to cleaning white flecks off of her horn. ] Name's Yuugi.

[She flashes a shark-toothed smile.] Aschka.

Does it feel bad? Bein' out in the sun, I mean. [ Might as well ask what was on her mind. ]

[She gives Yuugi a confused look, her fin-like ears flicker up and down.] What do you mean?

You've got... fish parts or something, right? Or is it lizard...?

Fish. [She pulls her scarf down to show the gill slits on the side of her neck.]

Ahh, I see 'em. [ She nods. At least she can recognize that much. ] So ... yeah. Is it weird bein' on land all the time? [ This is a serious topic, and not just her poking fun at the other girl. ]

[She tugs her scarf back up and narrows her eyes at the other girl.] I didn't live in the water before.

[ That was mostly a foot-in-mouth moment, and Yuugi laughs a bit. ] Nah, nah, that's not what I meant! Just... since those grew in. Or out. Or whatever ya call it. Just figured maybe you'd be more comfortable in the water or something.

[ With a grin, Yuugi gestures with her hands to indicate the breadth of her own shoulders. ] Kinda like I feel better in a bus than in a car. More headspace and all.

I've always had them. But...yeah I do feel more comfortable in the water. But the water here is cold and doesn't feel right.

Oh... [ Yuugi looked up at her horn. ] Guess it's not the same for everyone.

[ Then a curious hum. ] Cold, like... in the lake or the ocean?

Yah, some of us are born obviously mutants.

[She nods.] The lake is cold. And it feels...heavy.
