This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the game opens, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

The sun was too bright for her tastes; it kind of represented everything she hated about having to come to the surface. Too bright, too hot, too unrelenting, and yet not dangerous. It was like all the Upworlders, all pretty and always around, but just... soft. Weak. Not used to the harder life she'd been stuck with.
She hadn't lashed out at them, though. Callisto told her she needed to learn how to live with them in order to be a proper chieftain, and though she hated it, she would try. But that didn't mean she had to be friendly. Certainly not without reason.
As it was, the only people she stalked as she stuck to the shadows were those like her. The uglies, the castoffs, the obvious mutants. She knew some kids were throwing around the name of her people, the Morlocks... she wanted to know if they were worth the name. She'd grown up as one, had their ways and beliefs ingrained into her. If these wannabe Morlock pups wanted to adopt the name, she would make damn sure they earned it.

[The feed is upside-down, with Marrow perching over it, staring into the lens.]
...this thing busted?
[She taps on the lens.]
Hey! Someone help me make this thing work. 's broken. I think.
[Her expression sours, and she growls, her volume increasing.]
NO I DON'T WANT TO UPDATE! What th' fuck's this!?
Just say yes and it should be fine after a minute.
"Yes."
[Stare.]
It didn't do anything. 's fuckin' broken.
That doesn't sound right. Maybe I can take a look at it?
[Another stare.]
Don't I know you?
Well, I...I'm not sure.
[Though now that she mentioned it, something about this person felt familiar.]
Where did you come from before coming here?
[She points at the screen, grinning like only she can.]
You fixed the TV! Turtleboy!
[His face lights up.]
Y-yeah! That's me!
I'm not just a Morlock! I'm Marrow, future chieftain of the Morlocks!

Did you make it mad? Maybe that is why it wants to be broken.
