you know what I'm sayin'?
This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before applying, and to see if things "click". Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.
Rinoa Heartilly | Final Fantasy VIII
[Flying class is great in theory, but not so much in practice. Largely because it's seriously hard to learn how to fly when she hasn't even mastered something as simple as growing her wings.]
[So what does any sane person do in this situation? Rinoa's not really sure, but her bright idea consists of jumping off of various objects in an attempt to re-create the first time she grew wings. Nothing too dangerous of course, but every boulder, bench, and even tree branch is fair game on her quest.]
[Only she's not having any luck, this seems to be an exercise in just how many bruises can she give herself more than anything else. In other words? Look out below!]
H-hey! Watch out!
[Imminent collision in 3-2-1...]
[Action: Network post (Text)]
I've done a lot of reading, but apparently I've missed out on a lot of really good books. Could someone tell me about a few of them?
The other day I heard someone talking about a book called Sunset. Is it any good? What about Barry Carpenter or The Famishment Adventures? If you've got any suggestions I'm all eyes!
Voice
Sunset gets really weird a few books in.
Voice
Seriously? Did they know you hadn't finished the book yet?
Voice
Yeah, I mean I read a few of the Carpenter books. They were good till- anyway.
Ay obscure books you can suggest for me. Something nobody else is reading?
Voice
Let me guess, a spoiler? Maybe I'll have to try them for myself and see what I think.
I might? I'm not really sure what you like. I read a few of the Circuit of Continuance books, they weren't so bad. I'm not sure if they're uncommon, but the Wheel of Alchemy series was pretty good and I really loved some of the other series by that same author like Guardian of the Tiny and Anthem of the Tigress.
Voice
Mostly I play music, but I gotta do stuff that's quiet sometimes. Also I've been told reading will help my English grades improve. Pretty much anything fantasy that won't get spoiled. I'll try it.
Just... don't talk about the plot twists out loud at school, okay? My luck on this is really bad.
Voice
Well in that case, see if you can find Wyvern Blade and Air Daughter! I.... lost my copy and tried to replace it a few weeks ago, but apparently none of the local stores have it in stock. So it might not be the easiest to find, sounds like just the book for you, don't you think?
I'll make sure not to say anything, so don't worry about it. My lips are zipped.
[Naturally she even makes a zipping sound.]
Mmm?
[That's the zipped equivalent of See, honest!]
Voice
Thanks, I'll see if I can find a copy, if I can't maybe my sister can mail me one. She might have better luck. It definitely sounds like a plan if its a book nobody can find.
Voice
If I ever find my old copy I'll let you know. Maybe see if I can come up with a few more books that I think aren't that common while I'm at it.

What're you doing?
action
Would you believe me if I said I was trying to fly?
[The smile she sends Rikku's way is one part sheepish and one part playful, after all this is the Institute. What's one girl trying to fly in the grand scheme of things here?]

[She grins then, eyes crinkling in amusement.]
So I thought maybe if I jumped off enough stuff eventually they'd have to pop out again sometime, right?
action
[Rikku offers a hand to help her up]
A trampoline might be safer.
action
[She reaches out, taking Rikku's hand so that she can clamber to her feet.]
We have a trampoline??

[Let's face it, some of the instructors would probably find that beyond hilarious.]

Re: action
I'm going to have to give in and ask one of the instructors who can fly for help, aren't I.
action
[She giggles]
I'm Rikku!
Re: action
[At Rikku's giggle, Rinoa sticks her tongue out at the other girl playfully.]
My name's Rinoa.
