This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before applying, and to see if things "click". Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.

[He sort of teaches, but it's more like giving the students a quick run down of how the plane works. He's vague enough to keep one wondering and hopefully want to learn more about it.]

[Prose]
He was still relatively new to the place. So he was doing what he did best, and roam the surrounding area. In his mind, this was the best way to become familiar with the layout. It was also a way to get familiar with the faculty members.

He first made his way out to the hangar, to see what it was he was dealing with. As he entered, he stared almost in disbelief. Eventually a low whistle escaped him and he chuckled to himself. Shaking his head he turned to leave.

Further exploration led him outside and toward the lake. He was rather content to stand there and peer over the lakeside. However he realized he could do that at a later time. There was something far more important to do: Get to know the other faculty members.

So Johnny went off to find another to talk to and get to know them better.

What's with this bloke? One of the school's avian students had been following this guy, thinking he was an intruder. Wearing all black and obscuring his face with that hat and sunglasses. But how would he have gained access to the hangar? Was he a new faculty member?

Venom kept his distance as he followed the man, ready to strike if need be.

Johnny had the vague feeling that he was being followed. He paused in his step and feigned a thoughtful look as he glanced before him. At first it seemed as if he were completely unaware of another, but in truth he was listening carefully.

"Hm."

Venom kept himself hidden around the corner. That was a little too close. His wings pressed tightly against his back, not wanting to be found out.

Having heard nothing right off the bat, he continued on his way. If someone was in fact following him, Johnny would find out sooner or later. He rounded a corner and waited just out of view.

Venom peeked around the corner, noticing that it was clear. He stepped out and continued to follow the man in black's path. It would have been simpler to walk up and introduce himself, but that would require social interaction. And that wasn't Venom's style.

It would've been easier if Johnny just came out and said he knew was being followed. Though he didn't want to appear nervous if he was calling out to someone who wasn't even there. Not only that, he would've appeared nervous anyway. So he waited.

And Venom ended up walking past the corner where Johnny was standing. Then he froze, seeing the man in the shadows thanks to his sharp vision. Busted.

"Er, um... hello."

It only stings at first

His waiting had paid off. He then walked forward, hands held in front of him to show he wasn't dangerous.

"Ah, hello my young friend! I must admit, I was wondering when you'd show yourself."

"You knew I was fo- I mean, curious about who you are." Nope, he wasn't going to admit that he was following you, Johnny. Never.

"So... who are you?"

Johnny could only chuckle at such a reply. Of course this kid wasn't following him... he was just happened to be in the area at the same time.

"I guess you could say I'm new here, and ah... a staff member. I'm the new flight instructor. Though I can only assume you have no problems with flight."

He eased his position and folded his arms across his chest.

"I'm also a mechanic."

Venom's wings twitched in response. "I can't say I've ever seen our hangar area. Didn't know we needed an instructor or a mechanic." He shrugged. Why would they hire such a shady-looking man to work in such a sensitive area?

"Welcome to our school, I guess."

"You seems suspicious of me." He shook his head.

"I assure you, I mean no harm. ... Would you like to walk with me?"

"I suppose." Venom had nothing else to do since he was finished with school for the day and homework was done. And despite what the older man said about meaning him no harm, Venom could still defend himself with a good sound blast. "So you're a pilot."
