This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before applying, and to see if things "click". Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.
Yvette/Penance | Marvel Comics
There's a bench along one of the least-traveled parts of the maze, close to one of the most twisting, turning, dead -end paths. And on this bench, Yvette sits, crouched like an animal and watching the leaves at the very top of the hedges flutter in the wind.
She remains still, like a deer, her wide blue eyes transfixed above her head. She feels the wind on her skin, blowing through the quills that make up her hair, her claws idly scraping at the stone of the bench. Unless she hears a noise nearby, she remains nearly oblivious, lost in thoughts no one else can know.
[action: classroom]
It's pretty clear Yvette's not comfortable sitting in the desk, but she tries, seeing all the other children doing so. She keeps shifting, though, trying to find a position where she feels comfortable without hunching over or perching on top of the desk itself.
When papers are passed out to each desk, she cocks her head, attempting to understand just what's been placed in front of her. She still knows very little English, and can read even less than that. So when it comes to understanding the assignment? She's lost.
Her face leans closer as she scrutinizes the page, trying to discern any meaning to it.
Action - Classroom
Ah. Excuse me.
[She leans a little closer and speaks softly and kindly, not wanting to seem mean or to get the teacher's attention.]
Do you need any help?

Her expression was curious, almost like she needed to be told what her own concern was.]

With the worksheet, I mean. Do you need any help answering the questions? I'd be happy to help.

After staring for a moment, she sinks a bit in her chair, not sure how to respond even if she could.]
Action - Hedge Maze
Curious, he goes to investigate. That's when he sees the strange girl staring at the rustling leaves.]

The moment she hears it, her body tenses a little, as she turns her head to face it. The sight of the strange, birdlike boy does not alarm her, but she eyes him carefully nonetheless.]

He reluctantly approaches the odd girl while keeping a good distance away from her.]
Pardon me, but I usually sit here.

Eyes still on him, she shifts on the bench, moving a bit over to one side. She doesn't look to be leaving, at least not without some sort of understandable command.]

[Venom sighs and notices a tree nearby. Instead of possibly sharing the bench with her, he crouches down. He takes off with a powerful wing flap, landing comfortably on a branch.]

Please stop. I'm not going to bother you.
