This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before applying, and to see if things "click". Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.

"Yeah. Its actually pretty easy once you've done it once." Donatello nodded. "But, yeah, thanks! Hopefully I'll have this done by tonight; I haven't talked to my family in a couple of days."

Which wasn't entirely true - he'd mailed a letter to them through April. But that wasn't really the same, and for all his family knew, he was being held hostage and had been forced to write the letter. Don did initially come to the institute for entirely different reasons than education, after all.

Elian stopped just before he pulled open the door to regard the craftsman. "Understood."

Regardless of their reasons for being there at the school, Elian's purpose was purely professional as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in training. He didn't have a choice but to be at the school or face the Vault. Either way, his life was no longer his own.

It was like this since he was twelve the moment his mother signed his life away to become a government guinea pig under the false pretense that they were going to help him. It was fear that made his mother take such a desperate action. At fourteen, his life was plotted out for him and he couldn't deviate. From start to finish, he had a strict guideline to follow.

Elian wished for that freedom and the only freedom he really had was inside cyberspace where he was a god. He smiled serenely and entered the pod, giving Donatello one last look. "Initiate dive sequence Beta. Ghost transfer to Neuronetsys Zeta-zero-zero-three."

The nodes connected to his head caused his eyes to change from human to the fixed stare that could see through anything. His voice was the combination of organic and machine. "Clarification code active. Divenet Active. Uplink complete. Communication established. System status active. Ghost is online."

Well, I apologize for being off by two. Do you mind explaining to the rest of the class why you needed a double dose of James Joyce today?

If you're asking me to believe you're a teacher, you've got another thing coming.

[He stands up and looks around the classroom like it's no big deal and he's supposed to be here.]

[As if there weren't enough blue furry men running around the school, we have another! Although this one is... quite different. With shining, almost glowing yellow eyes, sticking out against a sea of blue-black fur, this image was a tad more sinister. And yet, despite the demonic flair, the eyes appeared cheerful.]

Guten Morgen, meine Schüler! It seems we have much to catch up on since I've been in Germany for a while, don't we? Well, fret not. Beginning tomorrow, the theater room will once again be open to any and all, and I will be glad to take suggestions for this year's performances!

Also, I have heard that someone wishes to create a fencing club? If this is true, I will gladly take over sponsorship; I know herr Logan does an admirable job, but it would best help the club to have a more passionate teacher, ja?

[Action/prose - gymnasium]

With a series of target dummies strewn about the floor, one would think this were some strange kind of firing range. In a manner of speaking, they may be right, as Kurt stood at the far end of the hall, a rapier in hand, eyeballing the layout of the dummies. He'd asked for them to be placed at random, before he arrived, so he would have no advanced knowledge of their positions.

Gripping his sword, he gave a traditional salute, before teleporting in a puff of smoke. A flash a few feet away announced his return, as he swung the rapier low, catching one of the dummies in the head and sending it to the floor. Before it could hit, he was gone again, this time appearing next to another dummy before a high sweep sent it tumbling.

Again, and again, he repeated his tactic, until he disappeared with only one dummy remaining. The room was silent and still, until a moment later, Kurt appeared behind the dummy, leaning on its shoulder.

"Ach, you know I hate to do this mein freund, but you brought this on yourself." And with a smirk, he jabbed the tip of his rapier into the dummy's hide covering. "Touché."

The sudden violation of space left Rin leaning away a bit. And the question, well it pretty much got the most what the fuck face he could muster. "Taste? Like?" Who the hell eats fire?!

[She coyly smiles back.] I'm sure they would. They question is if they could entertain me.

Exploring the world, making new discoveries, and learning more about our past is to fascinating to give up, even if i was rich. Being stuck in 1 place for too long would become dull.

Exactly. People tend to think they will succeed, or their cause is more just, then the people in the past. They are just fooling themselves. They need to learn that enslaving or killing a group of people because they are different is never the right answer, no mater how perfect or superior you think you are.

Chika giggled. "Well, I really hope I do well then! Class starts on Monday, right?"

*Chika blinked, staring for a moment.*

You really think so? I mean, it does that a lot when I try to not have it go everywhere, but sometimes it goes off on it's own too...

[Ms. Robin is preaching to the choir on that point. How many times had the Foot tried to pretty much do the same thing to him and his family? Way too many times.]

Yeah...

"Yep. I've never eaten a blue flame before, so I thought you would know."

The reaction wasn't what he was expecting at all. The screwed up look, the shift in distance between them, and the change in tone all cause Natsu to blink curiously for a moment. He had always lacked a certain level of tact, but having met another fire user, however different their flames may have been, he seemed to let his excitement get the better of him.

"Haven't you ever eaten fire before?"

[Reisen smiled, nodding]

That's not unusual. It was like that for me, too. [Driving people insane wasn't fun let me tell you-no wait, I better not tell a little kid about that]

You just need to keep practicing. And don't be afraid to ask for help, there are a lot of fire users around here that can help you learn to control it.

*Chika blinked, before thinking about it for a moment.*

Yeah. That's true. I mean, if they can control fire too, they shouldn't be able to be hurt that much.

I mean, my fire can't hurt me. Well, unless it did what it just did and I went slamming into a wall or something.

So it's probably a lot safer to practice with them.

*She smiles, grinning up at her.*

Hm... I can't help but wonder, though... who let you into the danger room?

[She's pretty sure young students like this were supposed to be supervised, even if no scenario was on play. Electronics were never 100% reliable in her opinion, and there should have been somebody in the monitoring room...]

*Chika blinked, looking around.*

Umm, one of the older kids did. But they had a teacher with them at the time, and he was supposed to be watching me too.

But umm... they're not here anymore?

*Looks like Chika's been at it for quite a while, and didn't realize when the other two left.*

That's odd...

[Did they just... forget about her?]

[That teacher was going to get a talkin' to...]

*Chika sighed, shaking her head.*

... No, I don't. I really should've asked. But I didn't think they'd just leave here without telling me.

Fair enough. Fine. Let's indulge this little game of yours. Seeing as you just wen through this lesson, how about you serve as me TA for the day, hmm?

[Could it be? Is this true? Has Masaomi found the elusive nice teacher?! He had thought they were an extinct species, numbers driven beyond recovery by Masaomi's own kind. But if that's not the case, he's not about to look a gift horse in the mouth.]

[When it first catches her attention, Lorna tries not to look. It's very impolite to stare, after all. So, she focuses her attention on the professor. Total and complete attention. Yes.

She shuffles her notebooks. Straightens out her pens. Deep breathing. Wait. This entire time, she should have been taking notes.

Finally, she turns her head to the blond boy and whispers, every consonant very crisp.]

Can you please stop humming? It's really distracting.

[No she's not making that face at Chika. She's going to give somebody a talking to. Really, leaving a young kid like this here?]

Don't worry too much about it. I'll check the logs and see if I can get a name from that.

Rin simply continued to stare in disbelief. He couldn't imagine someone eating fire. How does that even work?

And if you fail to show enough understanding of your lesson to convey the same lesson properly, I'll just consider you an F for the day.
