This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the game opens, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.

[Prose]

Floe heaved a sigh as left her last class, pushing through the doors leading outside. Only a couple weeks into the year and she was already confused as heck. The work was way too hard- how did the teachers expect them to get all this stuff? Her brain was gonna burn up and melt out of her ears at this rate! She stopped and put a hand on her head speculatively. Did it feel hot or was it just her imagination...?

The short girl found a shady tree nearby and flopped down under it, her bright orange hair bouncing around her shoulders. Man, who even cares about lessons. There was another reason she had been sent to this school, and that reason was awesome. Floe grinned suddenly, dropping her backpack to the side and bringing her hands up in front of her. Now here was something worth learning.

She took a deep breath and focused for several minutes. Slowly but surely, a tiny white whisp of cloud formed between her palms. Hmm...it was smaller than last time. She frowned in deep concentration, putting all her effort into making the little puff bigger. Man, it sure would suck if someone were to interrupt her right now...

[Network - Voice]


Ugh, what's up with all this homework?? We just started school, right? Why do they have to give so many assignments already? Who needs to know all this math and stuff, anway! Waah, this is way too much, it's so unfair...

Hey hey, somebody help me with this, okay? Pleeeeease? I'll do something real great for you if you do! Of course, you should just help me because it would be nice, but I'll reward you anyway~

Prose

There was a much taller girl following somewhat behind Flow--not that Utsuho would notice, as busy with her phone as she was. She's walking instead of floating around--more time to send dumb texts to people--and is set to just keep walking right on by when something catches her eye.

"Unyu?"

Yes, that's the noise she just made. She was mid-mutter; more coherent words would follow after. Was that a...cloud? Little cloud, over there. When'd that get there? Oh--some girl was carrying it.

"Did you catch it?"

That must be the reason, surely.

Re: Prose

"Huh?" Floe blinks and looks up at the question. Predictably, the second she turns away from it the little cloud starts to dissipate. She gasps dramatically and flails a bit, making a pathetic attempt to catch the wisps as they slipped through her fingers. "Aaah, you messed me up! I was just starting to get the hang of it, too...thanks a lot!" She huffed angrily and crossed her arms over her chest, glaring up at the other girl.

It is ridiculous to try and be mad at a tall person, she thinks briefly. Especially when sitting. But dammit if she wasn't going to try.

Blink. Bliiiiink. The cloud disappeared!

"--oh, did I? Sorry."

Meant sincerely! It's just...hard to convey that when you're six feet tall and have wings and enough muscles to support those wings to look like a bouncer.

"Can't you just catch it again?"

Floe pouted with the force of a trained sulker, but something about the question and the other girl's impressive appearance made her feel a little embarrassed.

"I didn't catch it, I made it. And w-well, I mean...of course I can do it again! I could totally make another one in a second if I wanted to!" Blatant lies. But she wasn't about to admit how hard it was just to do it in the first place. "That's not the point, though!"

Utsuho tilted her head at this explanation. And then looked up and up until she was staring at the sky, which indeed had a few clouds scuttling across it.

"I bet I could go catch one for you!" she said, still staring intently at the sky.

"Are you even listening to me- what?" Floe followed her gaze, then looked back at her in disbelief. "You can't catch a cloud, that's not...well, actually, I guess...wait, could you really?"

Oh right. Mutant school. Her expression gave way to one of curiosity. Considering her own powers, that might actually be interesting...

Probably not, on the listening end.

"I could fly up there and see!" Nevermind that she had a class soon after this, or that her powers had nothing to do with flying water.
