This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the game opens, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

True. [She nods as she bounces the ball a couple times.] So what can you do?

Any large gathering of people can prove to be dangerous though, with or without mutations as a variable. Tensions run high when different opinions come to face one another; someone in the crowd might have a concealed weapon, or simply the mouth to set off a squad of police. Don't let the actions of a few dictate what you fight for, not when your individual freedoms are at stake.

I don't but it does feel like a hopeless situation. It'll either pass or it won't and I don't feel there's much I can do.

Is that what you really believe, or what you've been taught to think?

I don't know. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between those two things.

You're not alone. It's something you'll ask yourself more and more often as you get older and suss out who you are, and just what it is you want out of your life.

A lifetime of questioning myself? Can't say that sounds exciting.

[ He chuckles, a low, warm note. ]

When you're old like me you'll call it "self-discovery". But it's really not at all dull, it's life.

[She lets out a small chuckle of her own.]

Going back to what you said earlier... there's nothing stopping you from letting your voice be heard. You don't have to march with a sign- why not send a letter to your Senator, and encourage others to do so too?

I've never been that great at putting what I mean into words. Would you be willing help?

I would be glad to assist in any way I can. Short of writing it for you, of course.

Why don't you start by jotting down your thoughts. How does the idea of compulsory registration make you feel? How will it affect you, and other mutants? What do you hope to accomplish by writing this letter?

[She gives a small chuckle.] I wouldn't expect you to write it for me.

I'll do that. Thank you for the help so far.

[He makes a small grimace, almost apologetic.]

Mind stuff. I can... ah, change how people see me? Or don't see me, for that matter.

[It doesn't get any easier to say, he's noticed. Powers like his are definitely among the top powers that made people really, really uncomfortable. "By the way, I can mess with your mind" always sounds so terrible, but it's way better than keep silent about it. No one trusts a mutant who lies about powers like that.]

[Luckily Cessily's inorganic body makes her practically immune to such powers. Not entirely of course, but it's significantly harder for people with such powers to affect her.

She smiles and stops bouncing the ball.]

Oh. That sounds like it'd be pretty useful. [She almost seems more at ease now that she knows what he can do.]

[He relaxes a bit when he notices how unperturbed she seems. That's a nice change.]

Mm, we~ell, it means I can make teachers forget I'm in the classroom. That's pretty handy, really. [He laughs.] Not nearly as impressive as what some people can do, yourself included, but it's a nice little trick. Or a nasty one, depending, I guess~.

Yeah but making the teacher think you're not even there would be great for when you don't want to answer questions. I can't even attempt to blend in. I'm too shiny. [She gives a small laugh.]

Hmm, yeah. [She pulls one hand back from the ball and reshapes her hand so that her fingers all become sharp blades. She looks at it for a moment before it melts back to normal.]

"So I am. Well," He bounces a little on his feet, his toes flexed against the wall, "And braced a little. Part and parcel of my curriculum, actually."

"Quite the unique name. It is a pleasure to meet you."

[ If this is the attention he gets for goofing off, who knows what would happen if he makes a serious effort? And, he thinks, how refreshing it is to have such simple concerns. ]

Huh. I never knew that! [ Was that covered in class? Who knows. Yuugi certainly doesn't. ] That's kinda weird.

Yuugi rose up and just put her arms out to her sides. "...well, yeah. But that doesn't answer my question."

She looks after the girl, but it's clear she won't be getting anywhere with this conversation. Again. Maybe she really should just go back to the party.

Network: Is anyone here familiar enough with the area to recommend some cultural spots? Even with as much as I've traveled, I've never been to America before and I'd like to see as much as I can of the area.

Ah, excuse my rudeness, my name is Kakyoin Noriaki. While Noriaki is my given name, I go by Kakyoin. [If you call him Noriaki immediately, prepare to get on his bad side.]

Prose: Kakyoin chose a disused classroom on one of the upper floors to do his sketching in today. There was a large window on one wall where he sat on the sill, watching other students walk by. He smiled faintly as he began to draw. This would eventually be painted with watercolors and sent back home to his parents.

He had left the door wide open and the music coming from his headphones could be faintly heard in the empty room and into the hallway.

"Parkour or technical climbing? Both would be good for students to learn if they wish to join the X-Men." Not that she needed to take a class on either, he seemed more skilled at this than she was, but she had a natural advantage with built in claws.

"Nice to meet you too," That's what most people say, he was more interesting than most so she almost meant it. "And my name is more unique than I am."

Everything you listed is exactly the sort of thing someone would want to do with us if they could find us.

You have every reason to be concerned they might happen.
