This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the game opens, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info.

Once again, she leaned in farther than was strictly necessary when he turned the book toward her. "Hm... I don't think I've ever read any books about dragons and magic, but it sounds fun! Do you think I'd be able to find it here?"

Venom leaned back again as he looked for food rivals spiders coming from the girl's being. "The first two books are here in the school's library. I'm sure you can borrow them."

"Okay, then maybe I will!" She clapped her hands together. Her spiders weren't anywhere to be seen outside her clothes, but if he looked carefully, he could probably take note of some dark shapes under the cloth of her shirt. "How many books are there? And what one are you reading now?"

"There are eight in this series. I'm on the sixth." Venom didn't know it yet, but he was finding talking to a random stranger a bit easier than before. She was annoying, but still nicer than some of his "parents" in the past.

Yamame definitely noticed that his replies seemed less reluctant now than they had earlier. So, seeing as he hadn't answered all of the questions she had asked, she continued to prod. "Oh... So why don't you like this one as much, then?"

[ Have a small fourteen year-old double take at some dude working the guitar. After hearing a verse she gives the guy a round of applause and sorts through her thoughts to find the right English word for AWESOME ]

"It's hard to say, really. It doesn't seem as deep as the others, and it goes on forever without any real development." Venom thumbed the pages of his book. "Sad too since the seventh book is spectacular."

Teacher got pretty mad at us, but I just laughed. [ As she usually does.

Taking that rag back. ] Thanks again. [ A headtilt. ] What're you up to today?

Yuugi grinned a bit as she helped wipe up that mess. "Can't make people do anything they were already doing." Which means she might have been aware of a couple of other people whose eyes were already on Parsee. She wouldn't lie about that.

Oh... [ Yuugi looked up at her horn. ] Guess it's not the same for everyone.

[ Then a curious hum. ] Cold, like... in the lake or the ocean?

Yah, some of us are born obviously mutants.

[She nods.] The lake is cold. And it feels...heavy.

Wrong thing to say. "Then why would you make it worse?!" Parsee snapped, eyes flashing dangerously.

She pulled away, thrusting that hand back out of its sleeve. "And what if someone else said it, instead?" What was Parsee going to do — lash out at someone who couldn't take it like Yuugi could?

[ She puts a hand up. ] No offense meant. [ Yuugi rests that hand against the side of her own neck. ] Heavy water... is it muddy?

[ And Florentine just happens to be the dialect Yuui is used to, and has been missing ever since he came home to the US, and his smile widens, becoming even more delighted. ]

No, just... good with sounds. [ He gladly accepts Ezio's hand, shaking it warmly. ] I'm Yuui.

[ooc:I'm sorry if the italics were confusing orz. They were meant to just indicate him speaking Italian. ]

"The... Danger Room?" He sounds a bit worried because that definitely sounds like a place that would attract his brother's attention. "That sounds, well dangerous."

He sends her another smile, warm and kind. "I'm very grateful for your help. I promise I will not run off on you." Then he lets out a small chuckle as realization strikes him. "Ah, I'm sorry I don't think I ever introduced myself. I'm Yuui."

"The point is that YOU did it!" Parsee snapped again, turning back around to continue her originally planned storming off.

"I don't really care what your name is," Parsee mumbled, stepping to lead him in the direction of one of the elevators that actually lead to the basement areas. "And for what it sounds like, it's not that dangerous."

[Aschka shakes her head and offers a half smile.]

No not muddy. See salt water makes the swimmer feel lighter because of the salt in it. Fresh water lacks that so it feels heavier to me.

[ This young man has him curious, and feeling a bit of a fraternal link. It's been so rare for him to find anyone even vaguely bilingual here in the States, and those that are tend to speak Spanish or a little French, not Italian. Ezio shifts she strap of his guitar around so the instrument is out of his way, as he tends to talk with his hands. ]

Good to meet you, Yuui. Yes, born and raised in Florence. And yourself?

(ooc: no no it's cool! Ezio's responses are all in Italian too, it's more natural for him anyway :) )

[He's rather used to this reaction by now. He often makes people a bit uneasy with his mannerisms, and he's good at acting as if it doesn't bother him.]

Oh, is that what it is? It's very pre~tty, especially with that red hair. [He sounds truly admiring, if also a bit intrusively fascinated.] Is it very hard, controlling it?

[Cessily gives a bashful smile, if she could still blush you can bet she would have.]

It was at first but now it's completely natural.

There's not a lot I can do. I could protest it all I want but there's only so much protesting will do.

That and a protest could easily turn into a riot and just prove, yet again, that we are a danger. [She sighs.]

[Flirting comes as easily to him as breathing, and he smiles brightly in return, tapping a bright red nail against his lips.]

Mmm, that's how it is with powers, I guess. But maybe it's a bit easier when it's your actual body than just some... weird force floating about. [A light laugh as he waves his hand airily.]
