This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

You shoved it into your bag before I shifted. You are refusing to give it to me. If it's not against the rules, why are you so keen on hiding it?

It's something very personal to me. There's no rule against not wanting everyone to know everything about me.

No, but there is a rule about disobeying a teacher. Hand it over or we'll be getting to know each other very well in detention. If it's harmless and really as personal as you say it is, I'll return it.

And I'm sure there's also rules against teachers abusing their authority.

[To those musically-inclined students, you have a new teacher! Sure, she's dressed casually with an old-school rock band t-shirt and flared jeans but damn she wears them well. She waves to the camera with a big smile.]

Hiya, kids! I'm Alison Blaire, but you can call me Miss Blaire, or Miss Ali if you prefer. The X-Gang asked me to come aboard because I heard a lot of you were into music but had no real direction. Well guess what? I'm changing all of that.

[Just watch her sparkle with joy. Literally. She's like a disco ball.]

You kids better pull out your instruments and vinyl because we're gonna GO FOR IT.

[Alison's no stranger to the mansion. She's been here on occasion, so she knows her way around for the most part. The music room was kind of new since it was renovated since the last time she was here. She puts down her bags and immediately begins to set up one of her turntables. Within minutes, she puts a record in and starts playing Donna Summer's "I Feel Love". As classic disco fills the room, Ali sings along, her powers awakening as a warm, colorful glow.]

As Kid is fixing up his portion of the room, he hears someone else moving furniture around. Immediately, he assumes someone is messing up his work AGAIN, but it turns out this girl appears to be...helping him? What?

...could it be that they are kindred spirits? Eh, probably not, but either way he appreciates the help. Giving her a small smile and a thumbs up, Kid continues to work on his own section first. After that, then he can help her with hers.]

[Well, that sure is death metal being turned on as loud as it can go in this room to drown him out!!

Sabitsuki enjoys her sleep thank you very much, and apparently people screaming lyrics is easier to sleep to than some guy with a megaphone.]

[She returns the thumbs up and continues working in her own section.

... Maybe trying to move the heavy things first wasn't her brightest idea. But she'll continue anyway for the sake of helping others!]

The higher authorities are Summers and three psychics. Summers won't take your lip. Two days detention with me in the dance studio.

[Well, she WAS coming in here to train, but... wow this kid sure is weird looking.

Hello there, Kid - there's a lanky, bed-head ridden girl watching you work. For a while, in fact.

Once she notices what he's doing though, she speaks up;]

Unlike other people, Reki doesn't think that reasoning with or yelling at Soldier is going to do much. Bleary eyed, she blinks owlishly at him from the peephole of her staff bedroom.

She sleepily draws a caricature of Mahmoud Ahmadenijad, cracks the door open, and with a bit of handwaving, brings it to life, a human sized but huge headed, obviously fake President of Iran. You'd have to be some kind of complete idiot to believe that was really him, right?

[Nervous much, or something?]

You don't have to be nervous or anything. You're new, I understand that, and you're trying to learn as much as you can about your surroundings.

It's only normal.

[He takes a look at the hedge maze - even after all this time, he hadn't dared to go in there. Not because he'd be afraid in there, but because he knew he was more liable to burn through it if he didn't solve it in a comfortable enough time.]

If you're one for puzzles, you should definitely go for this. People that've gone in there like it.

[He pauses what he's doing in order to answer her...]

[And then he realizes what she just said and everything is terrible.]

[He's on the floor now, banging his fist against the floor and probably grossly sobbing.]

I've tried everything, but my hair won't stay one color! I always have these accursed lines, ruining my symmetry no matter what I do!

[Yeah...he's a total wreck now.]

[Well, this one has the instrument--the violin case of hers can be seen in the background of the feed--but she has one question.]
