This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

[A fireball, eh? Easy enough to dodge. As it's launched at him, he sidesteps, the flames just barely singeing his hair. It seems he hasn't noticed just yet, but that'll definitely come up later. Right now, though, he's getting really tired of this. Perhaps it's time to go on the offensive. Taking his hands out of his pockets for the first time in the fight and donning a more serious expression, he rushes her, ducks down, then gives her a hard right uppercut.]

[Well. That's... unsettling. Sam jumps a little before shoving her conspiracy rag into her bag. Best not to give anyone more material to mock her with.] What do you want?

[She's assuming he's another student, and not just a kitty that wandered by. It's win/win, really, since that cat's definitely not going to care about her talking to it if it really is just a cat.]

More likely Xavier found jobs for every adult mutant willing to work because he's a big softie that way. Aww. "Two normal art teachers and one teaching art history. [Damn. Sam straightens up and puts on her talking-to-teachers face. You know, the polite, I-am-a-model-student one.] I just needed some quiet, I guess.

[All the time, apparently. Sam hasn't been fitting into the student body very well. To be fair, many of her classmates have difficulty adjusting, but there's a better sense of camaraderie for most. This is where 'their' group is, the others like them. Sam, on the other hand... shies away from it.]
