This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

[So this blonde, tan, built guy in sunglasses and a Hawaiian shirt; totally getting his video network post on. He's got a big, goofy, good-natured smile on his face as the feed starts.]

Oh, hey! All right, so as you can tell, I'm new here. Name's Alex, Alex Summers. I'm gonna be teaching here, once I get settled in. Going to start out with Geology, but if there's enough interest, I'd be willing to teach a Geophysics course. More of a challenge, but if you guys want it, I'll make it happen.

So, glad to be here, and looking forward to getting to know everyone!

[Who brings a surfboard to a school in New York?

Apparently, this guy. Who's trying to maneuver it, along with a large suitcase, through the halls of the school. Sure, it was ambitious, and probably a little shortsighted of him, but Alex wanted to get as much of his stuff into his new room as possible. Less time spent moving, more time spent getting used to the school, after all.

So, awkwardly, he shuffles through the halls, making his way towards the faculty rooms, trying not to knock over anyone else. The board kills his peripheral on one side, though, so he's not as fortunate as he'd like.

Still, he wore a smile. He'd gotten so used to being at college, that the school had a bit of a comfortable feeling to it, despite being brand-new to him.]

Man, this place is something else!

[Kurloz has been watching Alex since he set foot through the front doors. Then again who wasn't watching Alex? It's hard to miss him when he's carrying that surfboard around.

After following the man through the hallways he's deciding to lend a helping hand. He quietly slides up beside the blond and taps his shoulder.]

Hm?

[Alex twists around, barely missing another student with the side of his board. When his eyes land on the somewhat strange looking boy, his forehead makes an attempt at eating his eyebrows.]

Whoah! Uh, hey there, man. What's up?

[The strangest thing about Kurloz is his eyes, ears and well...height. He's certainly a tall one. Okay, and maybe he's wearing more eye liner than any guy (or girl) ought to.

He makes no attempt at trying to move when Alex swings around, he just continues to stand there with a smile. His expression only changes when he quizzically looks at the surf board, at the same motioning to it then his suitcases. After which he signs, "Need help?" as slowly as he can.]

[Sogetsu's door was open when he saw bright colors pass by. His brush froze in place the moment he saw the end of a surfboard. Curious, he put the brush down and went over to investigate.

It couldn't be a new student since this was the faculty wing, so it had to be a new teacher, right? And here Sogetsu thought he was out of place when he first arrived at the mansion.

Once he stepped out in the hall, he saw the new guy in full form.]

Need help?

[Alex had stopped, setting the board down against a wall and looking over the map he'd been sent. For being mostly contained in a single mansion, the place was huge. Didn't help that he'd arrived just as students were coming back from vacation, and the halls were packed.

When he heard the voice addressing him, he turned around, and gave a smile.]

Yeah, you could say that! Trying to find my room... "Faculty Quarters" or whatever?

You're in the right spot.

[He stepped out and went for the other man's bags.] Let me take these off your hands.

Welcome to the Institute. Name's Sogetsu Kazama, art teacher and backup X-Man.

A man of the sciences, I see.

Since we're going to be working in the same department, I think it would be wise to at least introduce myself.

[With that bright smile of hers, she gives him a wave]

Hi there~ My name is Maya Orihara, and I'll be teaching Biology. Nice to meet you, Mr. Summers.

[Unfortunately, someone's standing in the hallways and trying to get used to the area himself. So he happens to turn around just in time to come face to face with a... surfboard. Sam jerked back to put some more distance between him and the seemingly out of place object.

He was a little startled by the whole thing, but soon understood what was going on.]

S'cuse me?

[The sudden voice made Alex jerk the board back, almost whacking himself in the face as he did so.]

Oh, damn! Sorry, man, didn't even see you there!

You all right?

[Network]

[Anderson stares at the feed for a moment and decides to make a reply to this introduction.]

Guid day, Mr. Summers. ... It is reassurin' tae know 'at Ah am nae th' only newcomer tae th' faculty.

[He cleared his throat... as if it would rid him of his sometimes heavy brogue.]

Ah am Father Alexander Anderson... Th' theology teacher.

[Takes him a moment to get through the accent, but he's got some experience.]

Ha! Yeah, I've been here before, but this is kind of a whole different experience, y'know? I mean, being a teacher and all...

[He stops and shakes his head.]

Sorry! Almost went into ramble mode. Father, huh? Got the collar and everything, then? That's cool. Sure gives you the chops to teach theology, doesn't it?
