This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun! Feel free to consult the institute tour and dorm guide for setting info. We also encourage you to check out the "!!event" tag on the IC comms to brush up on the story so far.

Souji Okita | Hakuouki

[Considering Tokyo didn't have as many trees to hang out in as this place had, Souji had become rather fond of hanging out in them. That and they were the perfect place to hide himself from anything that could be annoying him. They were also perfect for hiding when he wanted to do surprise attacks, which was what he wanted to do right now.

So any innocent bystander.. or any innocent person who was passing the tree Souji was sitting in will get a surprise by Souji trying to jump upon their shoulders.. or Souji turning up upside down just in front of them.]

Because yep, that's sure a Saitou passing by below.]

[Well then, Saitou, have a Souji suddenly sitting upon your shoulders, covering your eyes.

Saitou really seemed to be the perfect victim for this.]

Hand over your money.

[iaijutsu]

[The perfect victim, if by perfect you mean eternally unamused.

It takes him by surprise, certainly, and there's a loud oof - and isn't it lucky that Saitou's actually strong enough to stay upright instead of toppling over and leaving them both on the ground? But he recovers from his moment of surprise quickly enough.

Of course it's Souji. Why wouldn't he recognize his best friend's voice?]

Cut it out, Souji.

[Perfect victim also meant he had the confidence that Saitou would keep standing upright than fall over right on the spot. It looked like he was right about this, right?]

Ahh~, I've been found out already.

[He removes his hands from Saitou's eyes and instead wraps his arms around Saitou's neck instead.]

You haven't given me your money yet.

[iaijutsu]

I have better things to do with it.

[Well, not that he knows what Souji had in mind for it anyway, but he has his guesses, and it all adds up to a lot of "why should I fund your bad habits."]

You don't.

[Of course he had no idea what Saitou was planning with his money either, though Souji had never really intention to get money from Saitou anyways. He just wanted to tease him a little bit.]

So come on. Or else you'll have to carry me like this for the next week.

[Souji pls.

Not that telling Souji off ever does much to discourage his bad behavior, so Saitou's within an inch of just flipping him onto the ground instead, when another approach comes to mind.]

You're not going to stay at your peak, in that case.

[Being lazy, slipping out of shape...while Saitou spends that same time having to work twice as hard?

You sure you want that in your next sparring match, Souji?]

[Souji unfortunately doesn't worry too much about that.]

I don't see that happening. It will train my balance a bit more. I'll just practice on the top of your shoulders.

[This will probably require a lot of agility, right?]

[A long pause.

And then Saitou twists to the side to dump Souji off his shoulders.]

[Souji just catches that in time, avoiding falling unelegantly onto his butt.]

You know you could have given a warning.

[ The campus was never quiet, and today was no exception as Souji was crossing from one building to another. Souji himself had been working on his impulses to attack first then ask questions, but when he ended up trapped under someone else, well...

[Souji pouts a little, but playfully when he hears those words.]

[Someone certainly did and Souji doesn't wait to long to let the opportunity slip away. He shows up, turned upside down in front of the unsuspecting person.]

W-wah! [He jumps back a bit, clearly startled.] H.... Hello to you too. [What was this guy's name again...?]

[Souji stretches his hand out in an offer to let the underclassman take them.]
